Vintage Antique Door Knob Ornate Brass-Bronze Old Art Deco Doorknob 1/4" Shaft
Up for auction here is a great estate find. A wonderfully ornate flat top door knob. Interesting design.Art Deco/ Arts n Crafts era. Small flowers. Leaf or flags, and two very small iron crosses on either side on the front, in which I wonder if it could have originated in Germany. The knob measures: 2" across. About 1 7/8" back to front, with a about 3" shaft, which is 1/4" in diameter, attached with a single screw. It has a great look with nice patina. I have not attempted to clean it. And will leave that up to it's new owner. I am selling this antique door knob. Just as I acquired it myself, in"as is vintage" condition, so please take a close look at the photos. Beautiful, Antique Bronze Doorknob Set- Ornate and Heavy
Offering for sell a beautiful and ornate antique bronze doorknob set with backplates. The knobs are heavy and intricately embossed with designs on the front and back and reeded edges. I polished the knobs and backplate to give an idea of the beauty of these items. Although the back plates could use a little more work. While I do not know an exact age to these. I would guess maybe late 1800's(that's only a guess though) We have had these for many years planning to use. But have never found the right spot, so decided time to part with them. Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Reproduction"Florence" Door Knob& Rosette. Wonderful. Antique-reproduction door knob and rosette set. Both parts are made of solid. Heavy, thick, cast bronze, not plated iron. The previous owner joined both parts together by cutting a spindle(connecting rod) And connecting a rod to it with a setscrew and the rosette with a clip(see last photo) He used it as a handle or pull, and didn't have a lock for it to engage. Original knobs with this design were made by. P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT circa 1895. The design has an Art Nouveau influence. We acquired the set about 3 years ago. The parts were fairly clean and shiny when we got them. But since have developed a subtle patina and lost some of their shine. The knobs are in great shape with only subtle scratches. The set includes 2 bronze knobs, 2 bronze escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 working key, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and a spindle with 2 set screws. All bronze parts are solid bronze. Not plated iron. Originally, all bronze parts were copper-plated, however, only the plates retained a substantial amount of plating. The knobs and plates have an exquisite Art Nouveau style pattern called. Roanoke. The design features flowers, scrolled foliage, and beads. At the point of salvage. Some parts were painted, and all parts were dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we cleaned and polished all parts ... moreto appear as uniform as possible, without wearing away the plating. Aside from 2 small dents in the center of one of the knobs. All parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, chips, gouges, or deep scratches. The lock was opened. This is for a doorknob only.with no spindle. Set screw, backplate or escutcheon. The photos do not do this justice. It looks more rich bronze in person. Condition: Appears to be in very good used condition with some surface wear but no cracks or damage. It also has some of the patina from age. Measurements: This knob measures about 2 1/8" in diameter and 2 3/8" tall overall. The square opening measures just over 1/4" square. The stem measures about 5/8" in diameter.
