Item is in great shape considering age only normal signs of wear in the base of the feet were it rests as well as lost of glazing around the tusks. It measure tall 8. 1/4" by lenth 8" deep 7" The deposit's diameter 5" Measurements are taken at the widest part) The term Art Deco was coined in the 1960's as such and came from the International exhibition of"Decorative arts& modern industries" held in Paris in 1925. This exhibition was meant to be held long before this date as a direct response of the International exhibitions of Torino and Milan. Respectively held in 1902& 1906. This delicate antique solid sterling silver oval bonbon/candy bowl or nut dish is larger than usual. Making it a Master nut or candy dish. It has a repousse floral and foliage pattern in deep relief to the border. A reticulated body, with scalloped ribbing to the lower body. This is all beautifully done by a fine craftsman. The underside is hallmarked with the sterling thistle. Edinburgh castle and date mark“z” for 1906. There is a maker’s mark. BROOK& SON EDINBURGH. But likely the 1940’s. 6 ½ inches in diameter Stand 1 ¼ inches off the surface on three claw-type legs. F. B. Rogers Silver Co. was a silversmithing company founded in Shelburne Falls. Massachusetts in 1883. It was acquired by Edmund W. Porter and L.B. West. Who incorporated the company and moved manufacturing operations to Taunton. Massachusetts in 1886. For several years. The company became known as West Silver Company, and was producing silver products for the William Rogers Manufacturing Company of Hartford. Connecticut. About 1904. West and Porter retired and sold the company to William Davison, Carleton A. Woodward and H.E. Nearing, who changed the company's name back to F.B. Rogers. Grand Piano Shaped Glass Candy Dish - Vaseline Glass - Nicely Patterned
This is a lidded glass candy dish or whatever else you may choose to store in it. It displays nicely and you don't have to put anything in it. It is in the shape of a baby grand piano and and has a lot of interesting details in the pattern. Hopefully you can check it out in the pics. This piece was made by the Mosser Glass Co. 1977- 1985, as per my reference books. It is canary yellow vaseline glass. The piece glows brightly under the black light. The pattern has florals, leaves, raised buttons around the top edge of the lid and a raised pattern of a violin on the lid. The underside is stippled glass. The dish stands approx. 3 1/2" tall and measures almost 6 1/4" on the longest side, 4 1/4 at it's widest point. The piece is in very nice condition. There are no cracks, chips or other damage. The compost(candy dish) has 2 dangling crystal missing in the back which is why i am selling them together. It says on bottom of marble, crystal lead, made in Germany. Very Pretty together.
