Vintage / Antique Pressed Glass Candy Container Suitcase
You are bidding on an antique/vintage PRESSED GLASS CANDY CONTAINER in the shape of a SUITCASE. I do not know the exact age of this piece. But I would guess it to be mid-century. This suitcase candy container measures approximately 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" The side is stamped"PAT APPL'D FOR" The bottom of this candy container slides so that you could access the candy inside. The sliding plate is in excellent condition and shows very little wear. The rest of the glass container is likewise in very good condition for its age with the exception that there is a chip in the glass where the wire attaches on to the suitcase handle(see picture) This is not readily obvious and does not detract from the charm of this piece. This fire truck is in very good condition. I found several small chips. One is on the front bumper and there are four on the running boards. There is another on the top of the water tank. There is another chip on the front edge of the right fender. The mold lines are so messy because of the low quality production of these pieces there are a bunch of other bumps and lumps that could be damage or they may be defects. Personally I do not think they are any big deal and they do not detract from the beauty of the piece. It is just low quality glass making at it best. There are lots of bubbles. Swirls, voids, and bumpy mold lines. It is hard to tell what is a chip and what is factory defects. If you are looking for perfect high quality glass this is not the thing you should be collecting. I am not sure if this color is uncommon. But I have not been able to find another one of this color listed on ebay. It has a opalescent sheen to it. It is a yellowish-amber color. I can find only one small nick/sliver on the bottom. I tried to show it in picture 3. It is on the underneath side, so it can not be seen when the dog is displayed. Excellent vintage 1940's unopened pressed glass Army Bomber candy container with the original candy. Measures 4 1/8" long by 4 1/4" wingspread by 1 1/8" high. The top of the wings are embossed" ARMY BOMBER" and" 15- P- 7" It has a black paper sticker on the front with a propeller and outside rim painted in gold. There are also stars embossed on the top of the wings. The paper label is marked" J. H. MILLSTEIN CO. PATENT- JEANNETTE. PA. and the patent date is March 2, 1944. VINTAGE PRESSED GLASS SCOTTISH TERRIER CANDY CONTAINER -SCOTTIE DOG FIGURE
I am offering this pretty little candy container made during the 1930's in the United States. Honoring the Scottish Terrier. There was originally a cardboard bottom and it was filled with candy. My mother put paper confetti inside and had made a cardboard bottom for it and kept it always in the china cabinet. This vintage little dog is sweet and is made of clear pressed glass, quite thick and solid, measuring 3 1/4" tall, 4" long and has a depth of 1 1/2" approximately. There are no chips, cracks or flea bites on the base and the only flaw is a rough ear. I've looked using a magnifying glass and it's a bump of glass kind of sticking out from the ear and can be sharp if you touch it just so. I've tried to show this is the last pictures so please look closely and buy this as it is- just a cute little figurine ... moreof your favorite pup! I will do whatever I can to reduce the cost of shipping. Based on your location to mine.
