The way this Agnus Dei is set into a frame with red silk thread and a label reading Agnus Dei. Is the exact way I received if from the Archbishop's family. The way it is set up, the red threads hold the sacramental to the frame, but one is able to easily remove the disk to handle it or to turn it over and display the other side. The frame is made of metal, and silk backed board. There is a stand so the relic can stand on a table. The label AGNUS DEI is hand written in a scroll like manner, and it is covered with a layer of shellac or old shiny glue. This has preserved the colors remarkably. I am selling an original Italian Agnus Dei blessed by Pope Pius VI. In front we have the lamb of God. The year(1778) the Pope Pius VI coat-of-arms, in the fourth year of His pontificate. Around the edges in latin« Ecce Agnus Dei. Qui tollis peccata mundi» On back the image of Pope Saint Pius V with Pastoral Cross. It measures inches: 6.1/2 tall x 5 1/ 2 wide. Really Rare to find such a big Agus Dei in this superb condition. A lovely antique patina is present. The name"Agnus Dei" was given to special discs of wax impressed with the figure of a lamb. The"Lamb of God" which were blessed by the reigning Pope in a ceremony so solemn that the Pope was said to consecrate the Sacramentals. In earlier times. This is a collection of TWELVE touched relics. Scapulars and other sacramentals endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church. Most of these have leaflets, prayer cards or other explanatory material with them. There are six touched relics and they include: 1.Mother Catherine Aurelia of the Precious Blood: a medal of Mother Aurelia with relic on the reverse with her dates(1833-1905) This is enclosed in a small mylar envelope and stapled to a prayer card petitioning beatification of the saint. A laminated scapular in the shape of a heart from the Sisters of the Precious Blood is also included. 2.Blessed Marguerite D'Youville( 701-1771) Foundress of the Grey Nuns(Sisters of Charity) The third class relic is attached to the back of a four page leaflet in French.
