Also there is some type of green stone inset in the medal. Which I believe to be an emerald. 33mm, contains about a half ounce of silver, nice condition. See pics. Up for Auction are two vintage Tackle Lure boxes.I bought these boxes at an Estate sale.the seller told me her grandfather owned both boxes and they appear to be from the same time frame. The name on the large one is Horrocks-Ibbotson.the size is 14 x 6 3/4. This box side latches work. however I do not have a key for the main middle latch and have not closed it as I am afraid it will not open…The age is unknown to me…however looking up the Company on the internet I came across the below article…so it appears to be before 1929 Horrocks-Ibbotson was one of America's largest production rod companies for many years. Competing head to head with Montague and South Bend. This company that came to be known as the World's Largest Manufacturer of Fishing Tackle traces its history to 1812 but did not become involved with fishing tackle until ... more1863 when an English immigrant named James Horrocks was hired as a clerk. In 1894, Edward Ibbotson was hired as an errand boy. Gradually the company acquired existing tackle companies. I have a vintage Chapman& Son# 1 ALLURE from 1884 made in Theresa. New York. Has great shine and spins freely. The lure looks to be made of copper/ silver, and brass hardware. The treble hook has a redish brown yarn"skirt" sharp points with some rust.easily changed out. A little history about Chapman. Born in Teresa, NY 1820. Holds several Patents for fishing lures and other items, the last one was dated around 1909. He was into a number of things. He was a successful jeweler as well as a manufacturer of fishing lures. He learned to be a carpenter, and watch repairer. He made fishing tackle for 30 years. The rear of the flat tab at the top is stamped"C" My research shows J W Court and his partner were awarded a patent for a curved fishook in 1864. The Court Co. is sometimes refered to as the"forgotten fish hook maker" This hook is believed to be from that approximate time period. The auction is for the one(1) hook shown. A color photocopy of the box label will be included with this hook. Neither the box nor the other hooks are part of this auction. The label highlights the award the J.W. Court company won based on their quality. They won the Victoria Regina award at the Fisheries Exposition in 1883. The hook has some light rust spots and black japaning loss. This is a very unique and very hard-to-find scale in that it is a 20 lb. Unlike the smaller 5 or 10 lb. that I've seen on ebay and other sites. Rare Pavilion & United States Spring Water Saratoga NY Pint Mineral New York.
Standing in at 7 3/4 inches tall in a beautiful deep forest/emerald green. Is this beautiful and hard to come by Saratoga Pavilion Water. The best part about this one is not only that it's a tough one to aquire, but that it actually says United States on the front! i have always loved that about this one. It is embossed on the front Pavilion& United States Spring Co with a large hollow P. The back simply states pavilion Water. No damage that I can se anywhere. Beautiful top, no chips, cracks or bruises. The interesting story behind it is that it was found on the top of a riverbank next to a huge peice of iron, and underneath the iron chunk were 4 more of these beauties, shattered to bits. Wish there had been 2 of these found in tact, so that i could hold on to one, and sell one, but I need to raise some cash. Burr of New York during the 1830s-50s, but almost certainly to the earlier end of this time period, circa 1830s. The handle is in a classical Fiddle pattern and the bowl is large and deep. This ladle is most likely for soup but can also be used as a large punch ladle. Because of the traditional, antique design of the piece, it can be used with virtually any other silver serving pieces. The back is marked C.A. Burr. This piece is guaranteed to be 900 coin purity silver. This piece is in fabulous overall condition. Especially for its age. Antique 1896 Pinback Button MERTON E LEWIS for Mayor Rochester NY campaign pin
You are bidding on an antique pinback button. I love these old buttons! This pinback measures about 7/8 inch across and features a picture of Mr. Merton E. Lewis in the center. Shows some wear. But overall I would say this is in very good condition for its age. Paper backing from Whitehead& Hoag shows some wear. Just the little bit of searching I did on Mr. Lewis reveals that he was a lawyer and held several jobs in politics. He was acting Mayor of Rochester in 1895. My best guess is that he ran in 1896 and was defeated. As I see another name listed as Mayor in 1896. Interestingly, in 1918 he ran in the Republican primary for NY Governor but lost the nomination. This striking poster shows Ruth and Naomi embracing on the edge of the desert while a young child looks on. Marked'Published and Copyrighted by the Charles E Hires Company' bottom left and the publishers'Donaldson Brothers NY' bottom right. A passage from Ruth also printed at the bottom of the image. Backed with some old paper with'German chamomile' painted on it. The litho measures(sight) approximately 19 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches and with frame 22 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches. The litho is in general very good condition. There might be some reflections from the glaze in the photos. AMERICAN RENAISSANCE REVIVAL SECRETARY BOOKCASE NY OR PHILADELPHIA TALL/ QUALITY* to start a new paragraph use- Recently acquired out of a New York estate is this magnificent antique American Renaissance Revival cylinder roll secretary/bookcase! Circa 1875. This absolutely magnificent piece is made out of beautiful walnut and Carpathian elm burl; the wood is just gorgeous. One will first notice the width to height ratio is very symmetrical. This piece is taller than most.The Roman arched doors below and above bring both parts together in flowing harmony unlike similar secretaries that have drawers below or worse a door and drawers. The Carpathian elm burl panels lend nice contrast to the darker walnut surrounding. The wavy glass is original to the piece as is the finish which has been waxed to a mellow sheen. The cylinder roll moves good ... moreand upon opening has a pull out writing slide with original surface. The fitted interior has small drawers and several open slots. The bookcase has original shelves that are adjustable in position. There are minor restorations that are not obvious however one panel on the left door below has trim that has very slightly misaligned over rime. A pencil signature underneath the bookcase top says SCHULTZ in old writing of the period. This is a better designed cylinder roll top desk than most and definitely points to a quality cabinet maker of Philadelphia or New York origin. Dimensions: 96" tall. 46" wide, 24" deep.
