Grosvenor. L. H. D. LL. D. Also included is this wonderful Map of Europe and Adjoining Portions of Asia and Africa in 19 Colors( Size 20 x 24 inches) Together with 62 Illustrations of Racial Types. A Relief Map of Europe, and a Political Map of Germany. As you can see in the photos. The magazine interior is in quite good antique condition. Paper still crisp and supple with no tears, folds, markings to speak of. The spine is good but is starting to peel away from the cover at the staple areas. Cover retains some light discoloration and tearing ... moreas you can see. The map is still crisp but there is some crease and edge tearing. Overall though. The map is fully legible. 1 World map from The National Geographic Magazine. December 1932 issue. The WORLD This map is notable in that it is/was a slightly emended version of the very first world map that the N.G.S. put together in 1922. It featured its own accompanying article in the December 1932 issue to describe the innovations and effort that went into this map. By the-then only 17 year-old NGS Cartography department. The world is here presented on the Van der Grinten projection. In the upper RH and LH corners are shown the Arctic. And Antarctic regions. The lower LH, RH corner insets display"natural vegetation and ocean currents" and"density of population and prevailing winds" patterns) around the globe. Printed by A. Hoen& Co. Lithographers. Baltimore, Maryland. 26" x 38 1/2" L x W) Condition: Fragile. Age-toned. An odd pin-hole ... morehere or there may show up, or develop upon further handling of this copy. Overall, this is very clean, NO writing or tape repairs, etc. V/G+ regardless of age. For this map alone. I am breaking my own rules(below) This map was repaired on certain seam folds(on blank reverse side only) with archival mending tissue. There were several splits and the splits and fold intersection pinholes that were becoming exacerbated simply by me inspecting& photographing this for this listing. Due to its age and desirability, along with its otherwise quite clean(cosmetic) appearance, I felt this was warranted. I am very picky about selling National Geographic maps. I will not sell any with water damage. Stains, tears, tape-repair, holes, jagged edges, or just significant grime/darkening. I inspected each of these and opened them up to look them over. There could arise a pin-hole upon further handling however.

Too complex for inclusion in a general map of India, are shown in a special map on the reverse side of this sheet. Of course. This map is also interesting in that Pakistan, Ceylon(now Sri Lanka) and Bangladesh had not yet separated into'new' nations yet. The reverse map intro also states: This sheet locates 598 political divisions and subdivisions of India. The names of 481 political units are given on the map. Of these. 268 are in British India and 213 are Indian(native) States[aka suizeranties] 117 Political subdivisions. Too small to name, are shown by number. In the 1940's. It was not yet common for NGM to publish double-sided maps. ... moreCondition: I am very picky about selling National Geographic maps. I will not sell any with water damage.
