RARE US NAVY USS LEXINGTON "THE OBSERVER" ship issued news letters 1930's dated!
Up for bid are seven very rare ship printed news papers from the aircraft carrier USS LEXINGTON! The dates are 25 April 1936. 9 May 1936, 16 May 1936, 3 October 1936, 31 October 1936, 26 September 1936 and 5 June 1937. The Lexington was sunk during action in WW2. Anything from the ship is hard to find. These are very very rare news papers and almost never come up on the market as single issue let alone as a group of seven. The type of paper used to print these is the reason for the condition issues. The three dated 26 September 1936, 5 June 1937 and 31 October 1936 are brittle and have some cracks and breaking. The rest are in good condition. All are covered in a plastic cover to help protect them. Good luck!

This is a ships"right of passage. Passport" from the year 1816, also known as a ship's scallop because of the uneven cut along the top edge of the document. The intent of this uneven cut was to prove authenticity if the document was questioned on the water by authorities. What is amazing about this document is the signatures, one signature by the President, James Monroe, and the secretary of state James Monroe. Another signature by a name I cannot make out, it says it's the counter signer? It has the united states seal on it, very cool piece to hang up and enjoy, awesome historical Americana document.

Antique Ship Model 15th Century Caravel Carbon Dated 1490-1670 (Wood in Keel)
I have up for auction with no reserve an antique model ship that has been in my family since 1946. It was purchased in Europe at the end of WWII and shipped to the United States at that time. It has been seen by curators and collectors of maritime related objects and everyone agreed that it was very old. When one museum director suggested that it should be carbon-14 dated. I did just that. I chose one of the top scientist in this field and his report is shown with the pictures of the ship. The samples were taken from the wood in the keel beam and indicates the wood dates to as far back as 1490. I realize the ship is not necessarily the same age as the wood, but at least it is a possibility. The idea that it is an idealized, and coarse model of a Portuguese or Spanish Caravel suggest to some that it is a votive model. Church Ship) The approx. ... moredimensions are 70cm long, 70cm tall, and 15cm wide. The bowsprit and a small piece at the stern is cracked but for something so old it is in pretty fair shape. Every part of the ship shows extreme age but that is what makes it so interesting. Because of its fragility and value(insurance) UPS has given me a rather expensive estimate for shipping. $300 and up(with insurance) in the USA and more for places outside the US. If a buyer knows of a better method of transport I will work with any shipper you use. I will even deliver to a shipper within 50 miles of my location at no charge. Thank you for looking.

Old maritime painting of a tall ship on the high seas in windy weather. Signed at lower left Betty Murphy Bergs 1935; artist was not found in any database. The ship and the seas are skillfully done. There are no flags or banners to indicate what nationality the ship might be. The painting is oil on artist board. Painted image is approx. 10" x 14" framed, 14.5" x 18.5" There is some old writing on the back of the board in pencil. Hard to decipher. It is in very good estate condition. No paint loss, could use a cleaning and would brighten up nicely. The frame has some slight gesso and paint loss. Especially to the right side, see photos. Offered here without reserve is this rather large English sampler dated 1832. Framed she measures appx. 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" sight: 16 1/4" x 16 1/4" The sole apology is the staining to the bottom of the sampler. Done by Mary Caisley( aged 12 in 1832 the sampler ntes the school at which is was done but I can't quite make out the name there. The cute feature of this sampler. Though, is the ship with a man on it as shown in my 4th picture. In any event, again, there is no reserve but buyer pays $16 for USPS domestic shipping.

It bears a date of 1858 on one side and a sailing ship on the other with a phrase in Swedish. Roughly translated it says: Welcome here my water will" Sounds like a statement from. Yoda, of Star Wars Movie fame) The interpretation of this inscription is left up to the viewer. The bottle may date to before the inscription. The bottle has some possible faint calcium on the interior bottom. There are normal signs of wear from age on the very bottom. The bottle ... moreis handblown and has a pontil mark on the bottom. There are no chips. Flakes, cracks or repairs. The cork stopper has a coin from 1760 attatched to it with a metal ring. The cork has shrunk slightly from age and fits a little lose in the mouth. It is possible that someone could do a better job cleaning up this bottle but considering it's age, it is in excellent condition. Please examine the photos and ask quetions prior to bidding. The large size. Condition, and engravings on this bottle make it very unique. It would make an excellent gift for a sailor or addition to a bottle collection. This auction is for an 18th C Carved Cow Horn Powder Horn. Depicting a sailing ship, adorned with tiny nails and signed EOB Bond and dated 1772. It measures 6 1/4" Long and 2" diameter. There are two wormholes as shown in photos on end by ship and one plain backside see photos(no cracks) Everything appears original and to be restoration free(including end cap made from old growth wood and funnel which has some appropriate age related wear) The carving is period correct simple ship using tiny lines and and adornments of the simple diamond pattern accented with nails. Recent purchase from the Kburg estate sale. The Kburgs were noted collectors they owned a 1872 Italianate on. what was once known once known as millionares row" in Historic Salem, NJ. Antique Ship in a Bottle - Dated 1932 & Signed - Sailing Ship w/ Lighthouse
This antique tall masted ship in a bottle is signed by the maker and dated 1932. The bottle sits on a carved wood stand supported by 4 carved fish. There is also a lighthouse in the scene sporting rhinestones at the top. The ship carries a pennant flag at the top with the name"James M. Boyle" Which is also the name carved into the wood stand. There is also a small Italian flag flying from the ship. The maker's name"Mario Lanoly" is on a label on the bottom of the bottle(visible from either side) with a date of 1932. Measurements: Bottle- 3-1/2" in diameter by 10-1/4" long Stand- 15" long by 4" wide Condition: The ship and lighthouse look to be in excellent condition with no damage.
