There is a crease down the middle where it was originally bound. The bottom of the crease has a tear that extends just to the border line of the map. Other dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of US history! It will look very nice when framed. Yardstick to estimate current population of this map. One of the joys natural to most collectors is to find and own a scarce or illusive item. If a U.S. Coin or stamp were to exist with only four to five copies known. The value of such an item would be out of most collectors price range. Here is a chance to own just such an item. According to worldcat.org only two copies of this atlas are in the major reference collections. These are located at the Warren Library Association. Warren, PA 16365 United States and Yale University, Sterling Memorial Library, New Haven, CT 06520 United States. We have found one dealer that has a few single maps from this atlas for sale. During this time, many different Railroad Companies existed, so this was no mean feat. The handsome cartography is by Rand McNally. And the map labels railroads and shows Indian reservations, cities, towns, and natural features. There is a large Crook County— and no Jefferson or Deschutes counties; they had not yet been created when this map was printed. Among the named places are Portland. Astoria, Tillamook, Salem, Oregon City, Grants Pass, Moro, Pendleton, and hundreds more. Named Indian reservations include the Siletz, Klamath, Warm Springs, Umatilla, and Malheur. I picked this item up an Estate Sale. It is a Pocket Map by Rand. McNally& Co's of the ENTIRE RAILROAD SYSTEM for the state of WASHINGTON. This was copyrighted in 1906. The item is in good condition considering it's age but is in delicate condition. All the pages are intact(including fold out map) but does have some binding crease and worn away between the staples and discolored pages. The overall size is approximately 6 1/2"L x 4 1/4"W. This is a delicate item and I took as many photo's as possible without trying to disturb and flip through the pages. The map itself doesn't look as if it has been opened too many times. In this sale here is a great find. A large linen backed folding map into a pocket book. Idaho railroad map in linen. map section, linen is in relatively good condition with original sheen on linen. The front cover reads Map of Idaho in Gold text. The book cover is a pretty burgundy color. The book cover has some wear around the corner edges. The map has appropriate wear for it's age. would look exceptional is displayed in a frame. guaranteed authentic. measured 60ish inches x 41ish inches opened& 6ish" x 8ish" closed. It does not appear to my eye or nose to have ever been exposed to smoking and I detect no mildew on the map, the linen- though worn in spots- especially around the many folds, is still supple.
