This is a large 1927 Rail& Street Map of Seattle. It measures 28 X 20 inches. It is quite detailed. Showing some topography, the streets, piers. railroad& street car lines, and other landmarks as they existed in 1927. One of the joys of collecting is to own a copy no one else has. If a stamp or coin were to exist with only two copies known. The price of such a item would be out of the normal persons grasp. No researcher, no history book or collectors guide would have pictures to reference such an item. According to worldcat.org only one other copy of this atlas is known and it is in the The British Library. British National Bibliography, BNB, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, LS23 7BQ United Kingdom. It is possible another copy may exist unknown to the collecting public and may surface in the future. To be used by shippers and businesses to get their goods to customers and markets. During this time, many different Railroad Companies existed, so this was no mean feat. The Rand McNally Commercial Atlas was updated yearly to show depots and terminals. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It does have water stains on the left, mainly the corners causing some minor wrinkles. Should look fantastic if properly matted and framed. All maps are sent carefully rolled in kraft paper. Lake Chelan. Washington, 1927 This is a rare and unique set of blueprint maps or plans that show the layout of the King Solomon Mill Site in Lake Chelan. Washington, and a cross-section of the site. Both are printed on light parchment-like paper, are somewhat brittle from age, and are blank on the reverse. The small one measures 22 by 9.75 inches and is titled"Chelan Electric Co. Map Showing Property to Be Acquired in King Solomon Mill Site- L. Chelan. Scale 1"=50. Chelan Wash. April 20 1927" and"Survey No. 1078B, S. J. Gray" and U.S. Patent number and date of 1915. The map ... moreshows a number of structures, some identified(Sleeping Porch, Cottage, Foundry and Bathhouse, Fr. Dwelling) and elevations, acreage, and other land plat details. It has some heavy wear in the top-right corner with to 3-inch tears and creasing. Bit it isn't chipped; left edge and top-left corner are similar, with some shallow tears and wrinkles but no chips; some wrinkles and light creases. The large one measures 51 by 22 inches and is titled"Chelan Electric Co. Cross-Sections of King Solomon Mill Site. Property of S. J. Gray, Chelan, Wash. May 31 1927" It shows water levels and rock walls with measurements. It has a 4-inch tear at left edge. A number of very small 1/4-inch or 1/8-inch edge tears, a few minor wrinkles; some ink writing on the reverse corner. S. J. This is a 1931 map of Oregon. It is from a scarce Cram's Atlas. The map measures 11.25 X 15 inches. It is in near mint condition showing only minor handling. Buyer will get a printed out page size copy of the index page. This is superior to any"Certificate of Authenticity" which are normally printed out on the sellers own computer. We send this to prove map was extracted from this extremely rare atlas and to help with insurance appraisals as the map will surely increase in value. There are a few reasons this map is rare. And more difficult to obtain than a Cram's map of the late 1800's. In 1931 the United States and the World was in a catastrophic depression. Thus Cram's did not print as many, and very few people had the money to buy this atlas. Most surviving copies are the ones in Libraries and Universities. Also, ... moreduring World War 2, 1941-1945, the United States had many paper drives, pleading with the public to donate paper for the war effort. This map would look fantastic framed under glass.
