Vintage(1953) Masonic Item– a Leather Regalia Case and Branch Papers You are bidding on part of a selection of Masonic items dating from 1953/54. Originally the property of Peter Mather of Ilford, Essex and all relating to his membership of Lodge 6402. This lot comprises a very fine brown fitted leather regalia case measuring 18” X 8” X 3” and with the gilt initials P.E.W.M. catches work well and as a good condition carrying handle– just the odd use scuffs. It contains an accumulation/variety(37 items in all) of Lodge papers(e.g. membership lists. Accounts, subscription receipts; a membership confirmation and welcome letter; meeting agendas– all within the period 1953/4) together with 15 original stamped envelopes. This unique find can be worn by draping over the right shoulder and around the left hip. This piece is composed of velvety material and two silver toned jewels that have minor wear and patina due to age. The bottom jewel is a large. Engraved Maltese cross with intricate designs that can be detached from the back sash portion for easy removal. The top jewel features the Knights Templar emblem with a red cross in the center. Around both of the jewels are the words In Hoc Signo Vinces. The inside of the sash features a small red fabric cross. This sash measures 37 1/2" long when folded in half. I do not know what Fraternal organization these represent. There are 2 ritual collars. One is red velvet,with metallic fringe, and hand sewn sequined stars. I think the lining is silk with some fraying at the upper edges. the other collar has sequined starts, like the other one, with metallic trim, both have a 3 link metal chain that connects each side of the collar. Made by the Cincinnati Regalia Company(1880s-1980s) This was a custom fitted jacket with both the measurements and name of the original owner inside. It is to the best of my knowledge that this is from the Knights Templar/Freemasonry. This is in excellent condition. And I would like this to go to a good home.
