FOUR Vintage European Maps DETAILS: 1- Historical Map of England Wales; Made of Cloth. Printed& Published in Wales dated 1971 Condition: Very Very Good- no tears or marks. the map is pretty large when folded out) 1- Dunlop Width of Road Map South- East England; I do not see a date but there is an advertisement of cars that appear 1950's/60's maybe. Condition very good; however this map has a small tear on the top exterior where the map folds in half(not on the actual map though) no wrinkles or bends. 1- Deutschland- West Berlin Map Dated: 1966- this map folds out differently; it's in sections/pages instead of folding out. Also has A-Z reference pages in the back. It's written in German. Condition: Very Good. No wrinkles or bends or tears. 1- Geographers Visitor's London with full color underground map; No Date. This ... morefolds small enough to put in a purse. But too large for a pocket. Condition: Fair-good. I noticed 1 tear in the map. Some wrinkles from being folded. This map was used the most or handled with the least care, but still very presentable& useable. PLEASE NOTE: In order to keep the condition& integrity of the maps- I spent very little time with them unfolded. Glanced for any obvious signs of wear& tear. Tears, pin-holes, pen marks or seam separation. I have opened and inspected each one carefully, there may be the odd very minor age related mark but I think it would be difficult to find maps from this age in much better condition. The map also shows the surrounding areas of Worcester County, Maryland. It also shows Assateague Island, Chincoteague Bay, Sandy Pount Island, Little and Great Egging Beach, Lower Sinepuxent Neck, Cropper Neck and Peters Neck. It shows the Atlantic Ocean. It has quite a bit of detail of Tingles Island. Including streets and topographical contours(level lines) The streams, swamps, and lakes are shown in a vivid blue color, while the topographical details are colored in shades of brown. It stretches from 75&176 07' 30" in the east to 75&176 15' 00" in the west. The southern-most part shown on the map is 38&176 07' 30" and goes north to 38&176 ... more15' 00" The scale of the map is 1:24,000. The map is titled"TINGLES ISLAND QUADRANGLE- MARYLAND- WORCESTER COUNTY- 7.5 MINUTE SERIES- TOPOGRAPHIC. It was surveyed in 1963 and photo revised in 1972. Issued by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Geological Survey, Washington, VA 20242. Surveyed by aerial photographs in 1963. It is a Polyconic Projection, based on 1927 North American datum, 1,000 meter universal transverse Mercator grid ticks based on Maryland coordinates. The map measures 22" x 27" and is in very good condition. There is some very minor yellowing and a few very minor creases to the corners. There is a 1/4" tear to the bottom edge. There is a number in pencil at the top of the map. There is a small water mark at the right edge. Map opens out to 30 panels and is paper on linen. 26.5 x 42 inches. Metropolitan and District railways shown in red. Other mainline railways and the Central London Railway(now central line) and the City and South London Railway(Now Northern Line via Bank) shown in blue. Map stretches from Highgate(North) Shadwell(East) Clapham Common(South) and South Ealing to the West. Map also shows the construction of the Bakerloo. Here on offer is a great vintage‘Ordnance Survey Map. Plymouth' dating to 1946. The map has been based produced by the Ordnance Survey and has been printed on good quality heavy paper. It is folded into a cover that has the crest for the Ordnance Survey and details of the map. With Great Britain on the back and some further information on the inner cover. The map covers an area surrounding Plymouth. It is from the sixth series produced by the Ordnance Survey and is map number 187. The map is offered in good vintage condition. When folded it measures about 21cm by 12.5cm, when opened the map is 81cm by 70cm and weighs 67g. A great collectable map. Please see my pictures for the details of the condition. You are viewing this fabulous vintage 1948 War Office map of the Midlands. Ordnance Survey. The scale is 1/4 inch to one statute miles = 1/253440. The map measures 33 inches by 25 inches. The condition is good with no foxing or tears. The paper has yellowed slighty and one corner is folded. Overall the set is in fine fettle for the age. I will guess this dates from the early 1960's maybe a little earlier(no M6 shown) The map is whole but marked front and back with blemishes and has tiny holes were the crease lines meet. Obviously well used but still in one piece.
