ANTIQUE GLASS DOOR KNOB ASSEMBLY W/ BRASS KEY PLATES, SARGENT LOCK AND ONE KEY
We found this item on a very old door stored in the barn. This estate has yielded many locks and hardware pieces. This is the first one we have found all intact, it was on an old warped solid wooden door that belonged to one of the houses that was at one time on this estate. Here I have a Sargent lock mechanism with two solid glass door knobs. The glass door knobs are free of chips or cracks or any damage. The door this was on has been in the barn for at least 70 years, the house it came from was built around the turn of the century. There are bubbles trapped in the glass door knobs. I had found a can of antique BRASSO brass cleaner. Which I used on all the metal pieces of this assembly, and the brass came out really nice. Being an amateur clock restorer. I took the Sargent lock apart and put oil inside, the ONE key we found with this now ... moreworks great at moving the" deadbolt" back and forth. Nice intact find for a special door in an Antique/ Vintage house. The door knobs measure 2' wide X 1 1/8 deep. Other measurements are in the pictures. Check out my! Modern Solid Aluminum Exterior Deadbolt Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plates Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Modern Aluminum Door Set Knobs Plates Lock& Strikeplate. Mid Century Modern. Heavy-duty, commercial grade hardware made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT around the middle of the previous century. The set consists of 2 aluminum knobs, 2 stamped aluminum escutcheons, 1 steel mortise cylinder with 2 working keys, 1 steel mortise lock with an aluminum faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with a securing nut and a pin. The whitish lines or bands in the latches of the lock are made of some kind plastic. Since this set was used for commercial installation. It was designed to be strong and secure. The exterior knob is permanently affixed to the spindle with a securing pin. Once the knob is mounted on the escutcheon, the tall collar of the plate bars access to the pin. The only ... moreway you could access the pin is by loosening the screw and removing the knob on the other side of the door. The lock is not reversible. And it could only accommodate a door that swings into a home, towards the right. If your door swings in the other direction, you could still install this set, but you would have to install it upside down, with the knobs on top, and cylinder mortise on the bottom. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. The knobs and plates have a simple. This happens naturally, over time, to some knobs and is not a serious concern. We mentioned it so that you're not surprised and worried when you receive your hardware. We opened. Description: antique 1888 cast iron skeleton Key lock door knobs and plates with Victorian designs. Included is two doorknobs and two skeleton Key plates. And the middle lock part, which is all rusted out. Everything is joined together. A person may be able to remove the middle lock part and clean the doorknobs and plates and you would have a nice looking Victorian doorknobs set. The designs on the knobs and plates are neat looking. Measurement: knobs are about 2.25 inches wide. One full key plate is about 1.5" x 5" and the other is half way broken off. Contents: 1888 cast iron skeleton Key lock door knobs and one complete key plate and one half broken key plate with Victorian designs. All joined together. Penn Antique Restoration. 1889 Arabic Bronze Interior Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock, Key. Spectacular set made by“Mallory& Wheeler Company” circa 1889. The set consists of 2 knobs. 2 escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze face plate and 1 working key, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. All parts except for the key, spindle, screws, and lock body are solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze—not flimsy, stamped/pressed bronze or plated iron. We didn't include a strike plate for the door jamb because we didn't have any ornate strikers that matches up with the lock. However. If you don't mind a plain, bronze/brass strike plate, you could buy one from us for an extra $10- email us after the auction if you are interested. The set feature’s MWC’s very popular“Arabic” pattern. All parts have a sand dune motifs and one or more Arabic ... morewords. The set was removed from a door that we salvaged from Northern NJ in 2008. The set was very clean at that time(see last 2 photos) But has since developed a patina. Some parts have more patina than others. The base of one of the knobs is slightly pushed into the back of the knob. As a result. Up for sale is this beautiful antique bronze door knob and lock set. Please look carefully at the pictures. There is beautiful blue/green antiquing(verdigris I believe) which gives the piece an incredible beauty. The knobs and lock work perfectly. The original key is included although I cannot remove it from the knob. The piece stands 11 1/2 inches tall. I'm not sure of the maker of this piece. All parts are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. The details of the plates are sharp, but the knobs have been touched so much over the past century that their central, floral motifs show signs of wear. This one-of-a-kind set is comprised of 2 bronze knobs. 2 huge, bronze escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, 1 nickel-plated brass mortise cylinder w/brass key& nickel-plated brass anti-theft collar, 1 bronze thumbturn mortise cylinder, and 1 threaded, steel spindle and 2 bronze setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid. Heavy, thick, cast bronze, not stamped/pressed bronze or plated iron. Each knob weighs 10oz and each escutcheon weighs almost 2lbs! Penn Antique Restoration. Vintage Corbin Deadbolt Entry Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock& Key. Mid Century Modern. Heavy-duty, commercial-grade, door hardware made by"Corbin" of New Britain, CT around the middle of the previous century. The set consists of 2 chrome-plated brass knobs, 2 aluminum escutcheons, 2 brass mortise cylinders(1 without a key and 1 with a key) 2 aluminum anti-theft collars, 1 steel mortise lock with an aluminum faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with a setscrew and a pin to connect the knobs. All aluminum, brass, and bronze parts, are solid, thick, cast aluminum, brass, and bronze-no flimsy, stamped or pressed metals. We found the original mortise cylinder without a key. So we added a cylinder from our collection, which has a functional key. We are including the original, ... morekeyless cylinder in case you would like to have keys made for it, and use in place of the one that we added. Since we don't have a key for it, we cannot test it, and do not guarantee that it works. The knobs and plates have a simple. Straightforward design. Since this set was used for commercial installation, it was designed to be strong and secure, not fancy and decorative. The set was salvaged from Southwestern Indiana. At the point of salvage. We found the set fairly clean with only a subtle patina. The set consists of 2 bronze knobs, 2 stamped bronze escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid bronze, not plated steel. All parts were originally copper plated, however, some parts retained more plating than others(see photos to compare) We found the set with a nice. Original, patina, which we didn't want to disturb. The collar of the exterior escutcheon has a crack in it. Which is only cosmetic and doesn't impair its function. Otherwise, all parts just have the tiny nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on old, used hardware. However, there are no breaks, deep scratches, gouges, or cracks. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the top button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the bottom button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door.
