2012 National Geographic Map of Mauna Kea. The World's Tallest Mountain The map is in excellent condition and measures approximately 31 x 28 inches in size. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 10 to 90 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So some of the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been stored in the past. When the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade ... moreaway in time. They are: Fort Randall, 1949/ Seward, 1955/ Lake Clark, 1967/ Dillingham, 1966/ Kenai, 1966/ Mt. Katmai, 1964/ Iliamna, 1965/ Seldovia, 1967/ Naknek, 1964/ Valdez, 1966/ Tyonek, 1964/ and the last one is Kenai, 1951. That makes this map of particular interest. It measures about 22" by 18" and is in very good condition with no tears. All Cram's Railway atlases are rare. But this is one of the rarest. No other copies are known to exist. Three libraries have microfilm copies, but no genuine 1902 atlases are left. Assume one was broken up and sold as individual maps. They are gone now into the public's hands. This is a fantastic detailed wax engraved map of Samoa. The map measures 17.5 X 13 inches. Map shows cities. Towns, ports, tourist attractions and other points of interest as it was in 1902, relief shown by hachures. Condition: Paper has aged evenly and looks dull. Colored lithography colors are still bright. Overall, in almost mint condition. Paper is very delicate. Would look fantastic framed under glass. Here is an authorized original copy of an approved Plat(a"map" or scaled engineering diagram publicly record for the purpose of subdividing land) for a 1963 Proposed New Residential Subdivision of land along the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii. The land in question was at that time to be known as" Pacific Paradise Ocean Front Estates" Probably an allotment intended for the upper class. The land was, is, located on the Big Island. Hawaii. This print contains a supplemental map of the Island of Hawaii. The proposed development is located about 20 miles south of Hilo on the eastern shore of Hawaii Island. This is rather unique piece. As there are usually only 1 or 2 original plats ever made: one is kept by the developer of the land; if there are two original plats, the 2nd is recorded at the county seat where the property is located. ... moreEngineers and cities hold original, fully executed(signed) copies. This plat map shows the surrounding Pacific Ocean in a bright sky blue. The maker of the plat is Charles L Murray. PS. Of Murray. Smith, Associates, Ltd, Civil Engineers. The land is specifically located in Kapaahu in Puna County. Hawaii Island, Hawaii. This allotment was proposed only 3 years after Hawaii became a state in 1960. The print indicates that the subdivision Pacific Paradise was platted(recorded) on July 15.1963. Indicating that this develoment actually came to be, however some or none of the houses may have actually been built. This print indicates fresh, or"open" land was proposed to be developed. Plats can be down right boring, to read, but especially to look at- not so much with this piece. It is more aesthetically pleasing than the typical plat, especially with the bright blue ocean and the insert map of Hawaii Island. It is in very good overall condition, but the edges show some crinkling and bending, all of which would be cured if the map were framed. Up for sale is a nice antique map of the State of Alaska. Map was published in 1907 in the Universal Atlas of the World. Published by Rand. McNally& Company, Chicago-New York. It measures approximately 11 x 14(including the border areas) Itt also lists some population data along the side of the map. On the back map of British North America. Overall map is in good condition. Some light browning around the edges. Some tears and dings along the edges. But it does not affect the map. Crease in the Rocky Mountain range on the right side of the map. Will look very nice framed. Note also that while I have included a picture of the title page it is not included in the sale as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for several other maps. Atlas of the Int'l Boundary between U.S. & Canada 1918 (it's big)
This atlas is being sold to raise money for the Eagle. Alaska Public Library. It is a former library item. First of all. This atlas is big. It's about 28 inches by 19 inches. The full title of the atlas is"Atlas of the International Boundary Between the United States and Canada Arctic Ocean to Mount St. Elias To Accompany the Report of the International Boundary Commission" There are 38 sheets of maps in this atlas. Please take a look at the pictures. I know we have two of these atlases in town, and I've been told there aren't too many in existence. This copy seems to be in pretty good shape, especially when its age is taken into consideration. I'm not sure about the shipping on this one. I need to doublecheck with the local postmaster for shipping on this one. Ebay says it would only be $6.95 shipping even though ... moreit is a very large item. I have my doubts about what Ebay says being realistic. Shipping will be done with USPS media mail. Media mail is done on a"space available" basis. Since our town is served by a small mail plane. There are times when there is no space available. Sometimes the mail plane gets cancelled when the weather is bad or there is too much smoke in the air from summer fires. In addition, the post office is not always open 5 days a week and is never open Saturdays. Please be patient with the shipping. 1970's Advertising Poster Aerial View Art Map Hawaiian Islands United Airlines
Here is a nice small paper advertising poster from the 1970's that was found in an old Travel Agent's office. The poster is actually a geographic illustration of the Hawaiian Islands as they actually look from an airplane headed down toward them from the North-Northwes t- in other words. NORTH is at the bottom of this print. If you look at Photo 7 you will see I reversed it and North is labeled at the top of the map when upside down. This piece carries the famous United Airlines slogan. Fly the Friendly Skies" that was used in the 1970's. Maybe earlier. The illustration is like a birdseye view. Skewed from the North-Northeast, which is typical of aerial views that are meant to be pieces of art. This is a small poster, 17" x 12" It was mounted to a piece of red construction paper. And may have been framed at one ... moretime. Unfortunately. The print has some issues- please see the Condition Section where I go into detail as to condition. I suspect that this map was framed, but removeable in a plastic mounting, perhaps, and used for display and advertising in the window of the travel agent's office. This is probably how the print received the darkening and staining I point out in the Condition Section. By sunlight perhaps. Nonetheless. It is a still a nice piece of advertising art of the 70's and very geographic for a map collector. I ship USPS. Fedex, or UPS, depending on which is the most practicable given the item being shipped.
