All these maps are originals and are at least 62 years old. Geographical Editor G. Donald Hudson Size/ Format Map: 35.5 cm x 25.5 cm(14" x 10" Page: 41 cm. X 30 cm(16.5" X 12" The maps are printed on both sides of each page. The pages are thick enough to prevent any showing through of maps on the opposite side of the page. Condition Very good. The maps are bright and crisp. There is very slight and even age toning in the margins. The colors are BRIGHT and VIBRANT in a way not seen before or since in respectable atlases! Remarks This war-time edition of the atlas shows the world as it was in 1938 and does not take into account any major changes that occurred to boundaries ... moreas a result of World War II. Published early in 1945. The American edition included a coupon to be mailed away to receive updates after the war. The almost complete absence of physical geography and topography in favor of brightly colored political divisions sets this atlas apart from its contemporaries. In near VG or better condition. There are a couple of tiny staple holes in the bottom blank margin, but these do not detract from the overall attractiveness of the map[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] Text relating to toursim and sites on verso as issued. Including an extensive street index. Bus routes are shown in red overprinting. The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting and uncommon mid-20th century tourist map. Would look great displayed- ... morevery charming period piece. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. Sheet measures c. 22" W x 17" H. Engraved area measures c. 20 7/8" W x 14 1/8" H. Original fold lines as issued. 31402-folded] note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Please look carefully and make your decision knowing this antique image is nice. But it is not in perfect"like new" condition. Hawaii Map and Idaho Map1960s Cram Atlas
A double-sided page with boldly colored maps of Hawaii on one side and Idaho on the other side. This map was published just a few years after Hawaii became a state and includes special text about the country's 50th state. From an atlas by the renowned George F. Cram Company. Most antique and vintage maps have subdued shades. But these maps have rich colors that will really stand out framed. Because the maps are printed back to back. Only one can be displayed at a time. An original page from a 1960s atlas. Not a reprint or copy. Condition: Very good. The pages was just a bit big for the scanner. So part of the margin does not show in the image. The actual page is complete. Approximate dimensions: Page: 8.75 x 12 inches* Map: 8 x 11 inches. Most items are scanned with a black background. The image shows the actual item and is not a stock ... morephoto. Colors can vary a bit depending on your monitor and settings. PAPER CONDITION. Because most of the prints and advertisements were once in books or magazines. They all have at least a small bit of wear. Hello. And thanks for checking out the auction! This item is an original 1950s vintage Print of the Joseph Feher"Map of the Hawaiian Islands" Sponsored by Dole. The Dole Company commisioned this beautiful painting so that it could be reproduced and sold as a collectible map, with all kinds of interesting details about each of the islands and their recent history. This one is a little different than the maps that were sold as posters, however, because those came with numbers painted on various parts of the islands corresponding to a key on the right side of the print. This highlighted special areas and activities taking part on the islands(see Wikimedia Commons for copy of this print) This print is of the original map with none of those notations, just the pictures. This was a map that I could stare at for hours as a child and never ... moreget tired of it. From the Whaling Ships and Sperm Whales to the Moray Eels. Flying Fish, Outriggers and Surfers, it's a wonder to behold. I imagine that it has faded somewhat since it's over 60 years old, but the colors are still vibrant. The interior measures 27" x 18" with the original 1-3/4" frame. It was framed at the local Picture Frame place in our town back in 1950, and their sticker is still partially on the back with the alphanumeric Phone Number(HA 9- XXXX) showing. The paper backing has long since dried up and blew away, but the frame and print are in excellent condition. This is a great piece of history which still is something special to look at. This is a 1931 map of Hawaii. It is from a scarce Cram's Atlas. The map measures 11.25 X 15 inches. It is in near mint condition showing only minor handling. Buyer will get a printed out page size copy of the index page. This is superior to any"Certificate of Authenticity" which are normally printed out on the sellers own computer. We send this to prove map was extracted from this extremely rare atlas and to help with insurance appraisals as the map will surely increase in value. There are a few reasons this map is rare. And more difficult to obtain than a Cram's map of the late 1800's. In 1931 the United States and the World was in a catastrophic depression. Thus Cram's did not print as many, and very few people had the money to buy this atlas. Most surviving copies are the ones in Libraries and Universities. Vintage 1956 Hawaiian Map with Postage w/ Hula Girls Cover 1950's Hawaii
The piece is Copyright 1956(printed on the item) sold as is. its in bad condition. But i figured i'd give ebay a shot. i thought the 1950's Hula Girls were kinda cool if nothing else. its a fold out map and there's really only one of the 3 sections holding it together down the middle when opened up. there is one additional rip. there is ink writing on the back(when folded up w/ the Hula Girls on the cover) with a TO and FROM addresses along with postage stamps. post office stamp dates 1963. there is also ink writing on the map itself seen in the 5th picture(5th when including main photo) where someone had likely circled exactly where they were staying. please dont hesitate to ask any questions!
