This is a relic of the True Cross. Vraixe Croix. It measures 1 1/2" long. Including the bale, and 1 1/8" wide. On the front is written SANCTUS CRUCE DOMINUS JESUS CHRISTE, Latin for Holy Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ The wax seal and threads are perfect. On the back in black ink is written 326 and 1923. 1923 is the year. And 326 is an identification number. This rare relic comes from the estate of a French Archbishop. Who had an extensive relic collection. The family requested that his name, Diocese/city NOT be made public, although I will give this information to the relic's new custodian, along with a short biography. This is another incredible relic from the estate of a French Archbishop. This is a relic of the True Cross. In a Sterling Sterling silver reliquary with a depiction of the Blessed Mother on the reverse, with the words"Marie ete Concue San Peche, French for Mary, Conceived without Sin. The relic itself is on gold. Backed with red silk. Under it are the words Ex Lig. Crucis for From the Wood of the Cross. The red threads are perfect and intact. The relic measures 3/4" X 1/2" This relic. Along with others I have listed is from the estate of a French Archbishop who was an avid relic collector. Jewels, hand painted plaques Huge 35 1/2" tall Monstrance. This is absolutely one of the finest I have ever seen and that includes ebay. Just do a search and try to find of these this tall, antique, with huge jewels and hand painted porcelain plaques and figural dog faced feet. This is marked Made in France and is a superb example of a early monstrance. Just please take a look at ebay item 111460483148 and you will see that plain 21" example sold for $1175 last week and this example is ten. Twenty times finer than that example. Appraised around $8500-12,000. This masterpiece has figural ... moreevil faced dog feet like nothing I have ever seen. There are six large 1" long pink ruby jewels on the very base and as we move up further we have the neck with six more large ruby jewels with figural creature on each side. As we move up to the featured star we have 6 hand painted inset Sevres type porcelain portrait plaques that measure almost 2" in diameter and these sit above incredible gold gilt flames and having 6 more large inset ruby stones. The center has crystal or glass rounded diamonds type stones and the back does open to The very top at 35 1/2" tall we have one more rounded jewel at the cross top. The center star measures 17" in diameter. You will never find one of this quality with NO RESERVE The body does unscrew from the base for moving, storage and in this case shipping. in absolutely superb condition for it's age. This auction is for a very old group of FOUR RELICS. Consisting of small card pieces bound by RED THREADS in the form of a CROSS, contained in a folded paper with the words in French"SOIE TOUCHEE AU PRECIEUX SANG" which translates in to English as SILK TOUCHED BY HOLY BLOOD. RELIC POPE PIUS X SAINT 1903-1914 Papal Roman Catholic CLOTH Folded Paper
This auction is for a very old CLOTH RELIC. In folded paper, of POPE SAINT PIUS X, Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and canonized as a SAINT in 1954. The paper as folded measures approximately 1 3/8" x 15/16" and contains a small piece of cloth. I believe that the paper and the cloth piece are quite old, and certainly date before his 1954 canonization, and probably date from not long after his death in 1914. The folded paper with its writing in purple ink, and the cloth are both in perfect condition. POPE SAINT PIUS X. Original name Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, born June 2, 1835- died August 20, 1914) canonized as a Saint of the Roman Catholic Church on May 29, 1954, feast day August 21, Pope from 1903 to 1914. His staunch political and religious conservatism dominated the early 20th-century church. Ordained in 1858, he became a ... moreparish priest in the Italian region of Venetia. Pope Leo XIII made him bishop of Mantua(1884) and in 1893 cardinal and patriarch of Venice. He was elected pope on August 4, 1903. Pius X was the only pope in the 20th century with extensive pastoral experience and implementation at the parish level. He encouraged frequent reception of holy communion that became a lasting innovation of his papacy. He died on the eve of World War I. Considered a holy person by many. Public veneration of Pope Pius X began soon after his death. Devotion to Pius X between the two world wars remained high. In 1923. INNER CHAMBER IS 9" IN HEIGHT AND 9" IN DIAMETER. THE OUTSIDE CURTAIN ORDS ARE PRESENT. THERE IS A SILVERPLATED CHALICE THAT CAME WITH THE TABERNACLE. IT WAS NOT USED BY THE CHURCH AND HAS THE NAME LEONARD INSCRIBED ON IT. I HAVE NOT POLISHED THIS RELIGIOUS ITEM. THERE IS TARNISH WHERE THE GOLD FINISH HAS WORN OFF.
