The folded paper is approximately 2.2 x 1 inches in length and is stamped by the red Spanish sealing wax of the Archbishop of Mechelen. Dominic of Silos was a Spanish monk. To whom the Abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos, where he served as abbot, is dedicated. The mother of Saint Dominic of Guzman is said to have prayed at his shrine before she was able to conceive the son she named for him. This is a multi relic reliquary from France with two substantial relics of St. Dominic and St. GERMAIN. The reliquary is just beautifully gold gilded. The first relic is of Saint Dominic Guzman. Founder of the Dominican order. The second relic is Saint Germaine Cousine, a famous French Saint who is not too well known in the U.S. I will include an entry from the Parton Saint Index with a biography of Saint Germaine, patron of people who are born with physical abnormalities, and she is particularly known as a miracle worker, especially with problems with the eyes and blindness. Antique Reliquary Relic Crucifix Cross Rosary Lot of 3 St. Elizabeth St. Dominic
This listing is for a lot of 3 antique wood rosaries. All in tact, containing three different reliquary crucifixes with relics from Saints Elizabeth, Dominic and a third that I am unable to decipher the writing. The Saint Elizabeth rosary also has a St. Benedict medal attached to it. The inscription inside reads"Agnus Dei Vincentia S. Elisabeth" I am not 100% sure which Saint Elizabeth this is a relic for. My research tells me the word"vincentia" in Latin means triumphant but I am not sure if that is its intended use here. The crucifix measures approximately 2 inches long and is also engraved on the back"Alba Roma P.L.L. Paolo" which may have been the name of its owner, a nun perhaps. The Saint Dominic rosary's internal inscription reads"Agnus Dei, bois de l arbre de St. Dominique" This crucifix ... morealso measures approximately 2 inches in length. The third and largest rosary has the inscription that I cannot decipher, other than"Agnus Dei" This rosary also has a Pope Pius and Saints Peter and Paul medal attached to it. The crucifix measures 2 1/2 inches tall. All three rosaries close with a tiny screw in the bottom. These rosaries came from a large lot of rosaries acquired in Europe. I am not an expert in religious relics so am only conveying what I see on these items.

This antique rosary is made up of"spina cristi" the seeds from a thorny plant said to be what Christ's crown of thorns was made of. Comes from the Zizyphus Spina-Christi plant. Native to the Middle East. The reliquary crucifix opens with a screw which is in working order. Inside are 3 relics: St Dominic, Lamb of God(Agnus Dei) and the Earth from the Catacombs. The main strip reads"Lignum arboris S. P. Dominici" which translates from Latin to"The wood from the tree of Holy Father Dominic" Portions of the word Agnus can be seen and I believe would probably read"Agnus Dei" and refer to piece of wax in the center, which is the Lamb of God. Also there is a small bit of dirt on the right side which is dirt from the Roman catacombs. The 59 glossy blrown beads are made of either a wood lookalike material or carved from wood such as coco. They're in very nice condition. The reliquary crucifix is made of ebony wood inlaid in a silver base. The beautifully detailed corpus. The back is marked"Roma. This ancient church houses the famous St. Dominic Orange Tree said to have been planted by St. Dominic himself(making the orange tree around 800 years old! The reliquary crucifix is crafted out of silver metal with ebony wood inlay on the front. It has a hinged opening that is secured closed by a by a screw knob on the bottom. The back of the crucifix is engraved with" Domenicani Sabina Roma" The interior of the crucifix has two tiny wood relics and an old scroll that reads"Lignum Arboris S. P. Dominici" which translates from Latin to"The wood from the tree of(our) Holy Father Dominic" The rosary beads are smooth. Spina Christi beads, presented in five decades.
