Antique Victorian Eastlake Brass Or Bronze Door Handle Pull
This is an ornate antique Victorian Eastlake brass or bronze door handle or pull. I would date it 1880s or 1890s. Based on its design. It's a very heavy piece. Weighing 4 pounds exactly(1.814 kg) I'm not sure if it's brass or bronze. But based on it's weight, I would tend to think it's bronze. At its longest point. It measures 13 inches(33 cm) It is 3 3/4 inches wide(9.5 cm) When attached to a door with its two smaller pieces, it protrudes out 4 inches(10.2 cm) It's a great looking piece. The detail is classic Eastlake. There's no company name on it. But I'm sure it was made by a skilled craftsman. Except for some tarnishing. There's no damage to it. Antique Victorian Eastlake Bronze Entry Door Lockset Set Knobs Plates Lock Keys
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique RHC Eastlake Entry Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock, Keys Wonderful. Antique, exterior door lockset made by the"Reading Hardware Company" of Reading, Pennsylvania during the late 1800's. The set includes 2 bronze knobs, 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 bronze thumb turn, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate and 2 working keys, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid bronze not plated iron. The lock is reversible and could accommodate either a right or left swing door. All bronze parts have lovely. Aesthetic(Eastlake) style designs consisting of flowers, leaves, wagon-wheels, beads, and various geometric shapes. We found the parts with a rich. Original patina, which we opted not ... moreto disturb. If you prefer your hardware bright and shiny, we could clean and polish all parts prior to shipping for an additional $25-email us after the auction if you're interested. The base of one of the knobs is slightly pushed into the back of the knob. As a result. The knob is 1/8" shorter than the other, and there is a shallow, circular depression(see close up photo of knobs) Once installed, the only way you could see the depression is by pressing your head against the door and looking behind the knob, so it will be pretty hard to notice unless you're looking for it. There are a few small. Dents on the strike plate, but otherwise, all parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. The details are sharp and show few signs of wear. The lock was opened, inspected, and greased to function more smoothly. Antique Victorian Eastlake Brass Or Bronze Door Handles Knobs
This is an ornate set of antique Victorian Eastlake brass or bronze door handles or knobs. I would date them 1880s or 1890s. Given their Eastlake design. The long side of each measures 4 3/4 inches long(12.1 cm) The short sides(not including the metal rod) each measure 2 3/4 inches long(7 cm) The one short side that has the metal rod measures 5 7/8 inches long(14.9 cm) They have a classic Eastlake style to them. I'm not sure if they're made of brass or bronze. But the quality is excellent. I don't see a company name on them. But whoever made them did very good work. I am including the lock and escutcheon that you see in the photos as this was how I found the set. I think the lock is original. But not the escutcheon. The handles themselves are probably made of celluloid. Which was an old replacement for an ivory look, first manufactured ... morein the 1870s. On both pieces the section containing the celluloid moves around slightly. I'm not sure if this was done originally or just happened over time. But it doesn't affect the usability of the handles at all. One handle is fully attached to the metal rod that goes into the lock. And does not separate. There is green tarnishing in a few areas. And a few spots with dark dirt on them, most notably the ends of the longer sides of the handles. There are some light dings on the celluloid. But nothing major. Although i don't have the original screws from this set I do have bags of screws from this period so if someone really wanted them I could provide them. Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Antique Eastlake Cast Bronze Doorknobs. Stunning. Antique, door knobs salvaged from Northeastern Illinois. Each knob is made of solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze-not plated iron. The pair comes with 1 standard 1/4" thick spindle(connecting rod) and 2 setscrews. Each knob has sunken center. And an intricate pattern on both front and back sides. The designs are complemented by a rich, dark patina, which we opted to leave. The knobs had some paint, which we carefully removed without disturbing the patina, however, there is still some green paint on one of the knobs, and a few other small spots of paint that we couldn't remove without compromising the patina.
