Item description Antique Sargent wrought steel door knob c.1890. This is a nice knob. Showing average wear with some light pitting, but no rust. Originally, there would have been a bronze finish, of which small traces remain.This is a passage size knob. 2 1/4" in diameter and uses a standard 5/16" square spindle. Condition All of my pieces have been carefully cleaned with attention given to preserving original finishes where they remain intact. Many pieces fall victim to wire brushing and high speed polishing which only results in a rough pitted surface and erosion of the sharpness and detail of the pattern. Super shiny isn't always a good thing. Occasionally I may offer pieces that have suffered this fate but it will be noted in the description. Expect my offerings to be in clean good working order without hidden or undisclosed ... moremechanical flaws. Broken or missing parts unless otherwise noted. Do remember that these pieces are 100- 130 years old and many are just coming out of service so wear and tear is almost always present. All 5 bells are complete& original with brass T plates. Hanger arms& decoration with original iron main& return springs. Antique Glass and steel set of door knobs. One of the knobs is a light purple color and the other is clear. When these antique knobs are exposed to sunlight. Over time they will change to a purple color. They measure 2 1/8 inches diameter and are 2 1/4 deep. They have a star shape under the glass knob. In very good condition but some of the metal area has a little bit of paint on them but could be easily removed and a few glass scratches but very few and very small. Each escutcheon is made of stamped steel, and has a lovely oval form with beaded trim and a crown motif above the knob collar and acanthus leaf motif below the keyhole. Originally. Much time was spent removing the paint, and carefully cleaning and polishing all parts, trying to preserve as much of the brass plating as possible. There is some pitting on the escutcheons and lock faceplate. However. ... moreThis only adds to the distressed look of the set. All parts have tiny nicks and light scratches here and there. Which are common for hardware this old. Otherwise. All parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, chips or dents. The cast iron. Interior part of the base of one of the knobs is loose. If you remove the setscrew and spindle, turn the knob upside down, and shake, the part will fall into the center of the knob(most knobs are hollow) It's usually not very hard to get it back in place once it falls out, however, we'll ship it fastened to the spindle with the setscrew. Once fastened to the spindle, the knob if firm, and doesn't jiggle. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the house. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door

Each set consists of 2 steel knobs, 2 stamped steel escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 steel spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. The knobs, escutcheons,lock faceplates, and strike plates were copper plated. ... moreHowever, some of the copper wore off over the years, leaving the parts with a nice, distressed, finish. The amount of copper plating varies from part to part(see"Group Photos" to compare) All of the locks are reversible and could accommodate either a left or right swing door. The knobs have a round form with beaded trim. The escutcheons have an oval form with similar beaded trim as the knobs. Oval. Beaded plates are common, however, what sets these plates apart are the crown motifs above the knob collars and acanthus leaf motifs below the keyholes. We have come across thousands of pieces of hardware over the past 10 years and we have never see plates like these. At the point of salvage. Some parts were painted, and all parts were dirty and rusty. Since then, all parts have been cleaned of paint, dirt, and build up, leaving some of the patina within the crevices and around the details to enhance their beauty. Vintage Brushed Stainless Steel Door Knob Set with rosettes.
This is a wonderful set of Brushed Stainless Steel( I think that is what they are) door knobs. They have matching rosettes and are brass on the inside. They have been used but have very minor nicks on the knobs. The diameter of the knob is about 2" and the backers are about 2 1/2" in diameter. They are heavy and are in very good condition. Clean Vintage Screen Storm Door Steel Set Knob Handle Lever Pull Plate Rim Lock
Penn Antique Restoration. Vintage Brass-plated Steel Screen Door Set w/Knob. Lever, Plates, Lock, Screws! Charming. Vintage, screen door lockset salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The set consists of 1 steel knob, 1 steel lever, 1 stamped steel escutcheon, 1 surface-mount steel rim lock, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knob and lever, and all 10 original installation screws to fasten the parts to the door. Originally. All parts were brass plated, however, most of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. The exterior escutcheon also has pitting from top to bottom, which enhances the distressed look of the set. The lock could accommodate the swing of any door. This is not just a passage set; it also has a privacy system. There is a switch on ... morethe top of the lock. Which could be lifted and lowered to disable or enable the knob and lever from turning. At the point of salvage. Some of the parts were painted, and all were dirty and rusty(see last photos) Since then, we've removed the paint and cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability.
