This latch came off a 1700's house. The metal is wrought iron and has a nice rustic texture from rust over the years. The edges are hand hammered with a bevel as the early latches had. The iron has some texture from rust from hanging on a house for over 200 years. All the years of paint were stripped and this gem of a latch was under it. It was then cleaned with a wire brush and what is left is bare wrought iron. The slide latch would look great on a garden shed. Rustic cupboards, cabinets and all sorts of furniture. It would be work for barn or house shutters, add a rustic look on a door or on a garden gate.
