Antique Fleur De Lis DOOR KNOB SET Backplate Rosette Lock& Key Brass Vintage Description Brass door knob with matching brass backplate. Rosette and strike plate. Iron lock with skeleton key. The set has a Fleur De Lis pattern. It is all brass, a magnet does not stick. The knob is about 2 1/4 inch in diameter. There is an extra hole on one knob where it attaches to the spindle(my 8th photo) It would be hard to see when installed. The backplate is darkend at the top. The strike plate has a little bending on one end(my 6th photo) It's fairly soft brass so it could be straightend more though I doubt you would notice it when installed. The lock works fine. It has two key holes. It comes with a skeleton key that operates the deadbolt part of the lock. Shipping We will gladly combine items for savings on shipping. The rim lock measures 3 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 5/8" without keeper and the doorknobs are 2 1/4" in diameter. All parts of the lock work well, most of the old paint has been removed, and the doorknobs are good but have a few small dings. This is a great set to add to your vintage home. Except for the typical light scratches and tiny nicks here and there. All parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents or gouges. About the lock: The lock and strike plate are reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by pushing the top button. Once locked and the door closed, the door could only be opened by turning the key on either side of the door. When you open the door, simply push the top button to enable the knobs. If you wish to keep the door locked while you're at home, you could just leave the key inside of the keyhole. When anyone comes to the door, just turn the key and pull the knob to open the door. The only quirk about the lock is that the latch doesn't fully retract unless you turn the knob in the counter-clockwise direction on the exterior side and clockwise direction on the interior side. It still retracts if you turn it in the other direction. But the latch sticks out about 1/8" which may still allow the door to swing open if the clearance between the edge of the door and the jamb is 1/8" 3/16" We opened

Doorknob Lock, made by"LaBelle Industries" of Oconomowoc, WI sometime around the middle of the previous century. We found 4 of these knob-locks. And made sets out of them by adding a pair of brass rosettes and a plain, round, brass knob to each knob-lock. The knobs that we added are just a regular knobs, which don't have the locking feature ... morethat the LaBelle knobs have. Except for Set#4, each set comes with 2 keys. Each knob-lock is keyed differently. Functionality: When in the"unlocked" position the knob spins and spins. Never turning the spindle(steel connecting rod) which in turn, doesn't engage the actual lock, which is installed in the door, and the door remains closed. When in the"locked" position, the spindle and knob turn at the same time, the lock is engaged and retracts it's latch from the door jamb, and the door opens.
