The set consists of 1 bronze pull consisting of 2 square, back plates and thumb latch; 1 round, bronze, mortise cylinder plate; 1 octagon-shaped glass knob w/brass shank;1 bronze rosette; 1 brass thumbturn; 1 steel mortise lock with a bronze faceplate; 1 bronze mortise cylinder with 1 working bronze key and bronze anti-theft collar; 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb; 1 2-piece, threaded spindle to connect the knob; and 2 brass bolts and washers, and 2 iron nuts and washers to secure the pull. All parts, except for the pull were made by, Russwin" of New Britain, CT sometime between 1900& 1920. All brass/bronze parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast ... morebrass/bronze, not stamped or plated iron. The lock is fully reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. We found the parts with a nice. Rich, patina, which we opted to leave. There are a couple streaks of white paint on the handle. But the rest is tarnish. I f you prefer a more cleaned and polished look. We can clean thr set prior to shipping so for a charge of $30-email us after the auction if you are interested. The beauty of the parts are only matched by their superb condition. All parts are in fine shape with only the light nicks and scratches. That you would expect to find on century-old hardware. Otherwise there are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or gouges. We opened, inspected, and sprayed machine oil on and around all internal parts of the mortise lock to facilitate their movement. Antique Greek Revival Cast Iron Deadbolt Entry Door Lockset Set Pull Handle Lock
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Greek Revival Iron Entry Door Set Pull Handle Lock. What a rare find! This grand. Exterior door lockset was made by"P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. It consists of 2 iron pulls(2 large back plates, 2 thumb latches, 2 handles) 1 iron mortise lock, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 2 nuts, 2 washers, and 2 bolts to secure the pulls. All parts are solid, heavy, and thick cast iron, not stamped or pressed wrought iron. Originally, the pulls were copper plated, however, most of the plating wore off of one of the pulls and some of the plating wore off of the other, leaving the parts with a nice distressed look. Many times. Sets like this are used only to keep a door closed and to look pretty, so we didn't make a key for the lock. However, if you ... morealso need the set for security, we should be able to make a key. The first key would cost $10- $20, and each additional key would cost $10-email us after the auction if you are interested. Each pull has a lovely. Neo-Grec style, egg and dart border. The set was salvaged from Southwestern Minnesota. At the point of salvage. All parts were dirty and rusty(see last photo) Since then, we've carefully cleaned all parts to the best of our ability, trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible. The beauty of the pulls is only matched by their superb condition! Aside from the typical small nicks& light scratches here and there. Which are common for 100+ year old hardware; all parts a free of breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. Someone widened the keyhole on the pull with less plating. It's not a flaw. Which affects the structural integrity or function of the pull, just more of a permanent, visual quirk, like someone carving their name on a desk top. The pocket door pull handles measure 2 x 4 1/16 inches. The face plate of the lock measures 1 1/16 x 7 11/16 inches. The lock box recesses 3 inches. Is 5 3/8 inches tall and 1/2 inch thick. On the face of the lock there is a handle and a round button. Push the button and the pull handle pops out. The door frame has a matching strike plate that measures 1 by 4 1/8 inches. The set consists of 4 copper-plated cast iron pulls made by"Sargent& Co. of New Haven, CT; 2 steel mortise locks w/copper-plated steel faceplates made by"P.F. Corbin Mfg. May 15 1915. It has a spring press push handle for locking/releasing still moves freely also I'm not completely sure what it was used on at one time. It's in good condition but does show signs of wear with some surface rust/discoloration/missing color and could use cleaned up unless you are someone that prefers a natural patina. The set consists of 1 knob, 1 lever, 2 stamped escutcheons, 1 barrel lock, 1 strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knob& lever, 4 installation screws to secure the escutcheons to the door, and the original box and installation template. This is in great vintage condition. all I have is the handle. No mechanism. It measures 11 ¾” long. at the top it is 2 5/8” wide. The bolts are 7 ¼” apart. I did clean this up to photograph.
