The set is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. The lock face plates and door pulls are beautifully finished in corresponding patterns typical of R&E at the time. This is a complete set and is designed for a double pocket door with flat stiles. The keyed lock works smoothly. The finger pulls extend properly and the locking bolt is in excellent working order. The key is adjustable to the doors thickness and works as it should. The receiver lock is one of the better designs with a spring loaded cover for the latch bolt opening. The receiver lock's face plate has some tool marks from an improper attempt to loosen the pull, but the unit has been restored to complete and proper function. ... moreThe primary lock's backset to the keyhole center is 2" and both face plates are 7 7/16" tall x 1 1/4" wide. New in Box Pocket door keyed lock with decorative pulls. I purchased two of these from a seller in South Dakota who was clearing out an old building in a small town that once housed a hardware store. I installed one and continue to use it every day. That was over five years ago… A little background on the manufacturer…P& F Corbin. From Wikipedia: In June 1848. Philip Corbin married Francina T. Whiting. The two went on to have three children, two of whom survived. They later adopted a daughter. At the end of 1848 the Corbin brothers sought a partner for their newly formed company. In a small factory built by Corbin’s father-in-law, the brothers, along with Edward Doen, began their first manufacturing firm. The first items produced at the factory were ox balls for the horns of oxen and steer. A year later Henry Whiting bought Doen’s interests ... morein the company and the firm became known as Corbin, Whiting and Company. By 1851 the brothers purchased Whiting’s interest and the firm name was changed for the final time to the P&F Corbin Company. Through the latter half of the nineteenth century the company grew. The firm manufactured builders’ hardware including coat and hat hooks. Sash fasteners, picture nails, locks, knobs, as well as coffin trimmings. Beginning in early 1870 the company switched its focus to decorative hardware. Philip Corbin died after a long illness on November 3. 1910 at the age of 86. At the time of his death, Corbin’s companies employed over 1,800 people and were major manufacturing centers in New Britain, even starting an automobile manufacturing company. Item description Antique Hopkins& Dickinson pocket door lock set c.1880. This is a great classic design set in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. It is a complete original set. Including the correct adjustable key. The face plates and door pulls are a beautifully finished in corresponding patterns typical of H&D door hardware at the time. This set is designed for a double pocket door with fluted stiles. The locks have strong springs, the finger pulls pop out just as they should and the locking bolt is in excellent working order. The set originally had a silver or nickel finish, almost none of which remains. The set includes one cast bronze faced pocket door lock with a working key. One matching receiver lock and four matching door pulls. The key's adjusting screw has been restored and works perfectly. Up for bid is this pair of vintage Corbin Mortise pocket door pulls. These are very old with fancy brass ends. They do work with the push button but are a bit hard to push. The pocket door pull handles measure 2 x 4 1/16 inches. The face plate of the lock measures 1 1/16 x 7 11/16 inches. The lock box recesses 3 inches. Is 5 3/8 inches tall and 1/2 inch thick. On the face of the lock there is a handle and a round button. Push the button and the pull handle pops out. The door frame has a matching strike plate that measures 1 by 4 1/8 inches. Penn Antique Restoration Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Double Pocket Door Set w/Pulls. Locks, Key. Beautiful. Original, complete, double pocket door set salvaged from Eastern Missouri. The set consists of 4 copper-plated cast iron pulls made by"Sargent& Co. of New Haven, CT; 2 steel mortise locks w/copper-plated steel faceplates made by"P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT; and 1 working key. At the point of salvage. The lock faceplates were partially painted and the pulls were dirty and rusty(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. The parts retained almost all of their copper plating after so many years and after cleaning. The parts were found in excellent condition with only tiny nicks and light scratches here and there. But no breaks, ... morechips, cracks, gouges. The internal parts of the locks were removed. Cleaned, and put back. Now, the locks function smoothly.
