Antique"Penn"Brass+Iron Mortise Door Knob Set+parts
I purchased this antigue mortise lock set and parts at an estate sale. And I know nothing about these things. The mortise lock set is made of brass and iron and has"Penn" marked on it's side. Although it came with a"Penn" skeleton key, the lock takes a different brass key. I have no idea if this is complete or not, or if it works OK, so what you see, you get. Included are a set of black porcelain knobs with the shaft, that came with this lot. Winning bidder pays shipping.

Offered for Auction is a 1880s Ornate Sargent 2 Cast Iron Thumb Latch Door Handles& Lock Mortise. Lock reads Pat May 11 1880. thumb latches retract latch perfectly. no key is included so it cant be locked. But works great as a passage lock. it is beautifully embellished and all parts appear to be there. I have included the portion of the door to aid in installation. Please see pictures for measurments. the door the lock came off of was 1 3/4" wide

There is a small corner piece of the cast iron shell broken and missing. This does not affect it's functionality. The other unfortunate issue. However, does. The push button security feature of this mortise requires a split shaft that has drilled and threaded holes in it. While I have split shafts. And shafts with threaded holes in them, I do not have a shaft that has both. This auction includes a shaft with threaded holes that will work with every feature of this mortise except the push button security because it is not split. I do have two threaded split shafts for this type of mortise but they will not work with the knobs included. These knobs are not threaded at all. m

No I did not clean it up. leave that for the proud new owner. selling it as found. I do not have the skeleton key, might take a little work to get the Lock to work. Latch works great. Yes the escutcheons are steel, a little sanding and paint and be a classic art deco item. What you see is what you get. Been a long time since I put one of these in.
