Full assembly. About 5-1/4" Knob is about 2-1/8" across. When looking straight down into the glass it looks like there's a star burst pattern under the glass. The 1/4" square shaft has notches or serations along the edges. There are two flanges included. Biggest flange is about 2-1/16" across with 3 screw holes. Smaller flange is about 1-5/8" across and is flatter than the larger flange. I found 3 small knicks on the underside. These are not very noticeable. But they are there so the glass is not perfect. Lot of 2 Antique Eight-Sided (octagon) Glass Crystal Door Knob Sets (4 Knobs)
This auction is for Two Eight-Sided Antique Glass Crystal and Brass Door Knob Sets(4 knobs) in very good condition. The eight-sided glass knobs measure about two and one-quarter(2 1/4" inches in diameter and show light normal wear. The knobs are in very good condition and do not have any chips. There are a few light scratches and small nicks.on edge nick is about 1/8" X 1/8" The knobs have very nice star or geometric patterns. The knobs are similar but are not the same. One is larger than the other. They have not been cleaned or polished. As a note- the door knob casings(ferrules) can be polished with brass cleaner or with dish washing soap and steel wool(000 or 0000) Try not to get water inside the knobs as it can damage the star or geometric design.so remove any residue with a damp rag. The sets come with the connecting rods ... moreand both set screws. Another note- if you are looking for door knobs to use for doors make sure that they come with both set screws. There are many(probably 100's) of different antique door knob styles and there was no standard set screw size or thread so they can be very hard to find. The knobs shown are the knobs that you will receive. The knobs when carefully packed will weigh about 2-3 pounds but they will fit in a medium USPS flat rate box so shipping in the US should be $12.35 or less. Vntg. 12-Sided Glass Door Knob Set w/Open & Close Mechanism, Spindle & 2 screws
This vintage set is in Working Order and is a Complete Set! The glass is in very good condition. But the knobs are of slightly different design. The brass bases have some paint as does the opening/closing mechanism. There is some dried rubber at the base of the knobs. I'm not sure if these are rubber bands, or what? But the knobs fit securely in their bases and there is no play between glass and brass. This would be a great set for a restoration project or someone who is a collector. Both have inner hairlines but have been in use in my home 20+ yrs with no further deterioration(see pic's& more condition below) Up for Auction. 2- FANTASTIC 2 1/4" Round RARE COBALT BLUE Antique Door Knobs attached to Nickel Alloy Hardware c1840- 1860 Condition description: Both Knobs have inner hairlines however they are permanently attached to the nickel hardware that acts as structural support they have been like this since I got them 20+ yrs ago& have been used with no issues. Cracks are not obvious unless in very bright light. Removed from a New England Farm House built in 1845 where most of the earliest glass companies were. KNOB's measure 2 1/4 inches in diameter and with the steel insert measure approx 6 inches long from end to end.
