ANTIQUE GLASS DOOR KNOB ASSEMBLY W/ BRASS KEY PLATES, SARGENT LOCK AND ONE KEY
We found this item on a very old door stored in the barn. This estate has yielded many locks and hardware pieces. This is the first one we have found all intact, it was on an old warped solid wooden door that belonged to one of the houses that was at one time on this estate. Here I have a Sargent lock mechanism with two solid glass door knobs. The glass door knobs are free of chips or cracks or any damage. The door this was on has been in the barn for at least 70 years, the house it came from was built around the turn of the century. There are bubbles trapped in the glass door knobs. I had found a can of antique BRASSO brass cleaner. Which I used on all the metal pieces of this assembly, and the brass came out really nice. Being an amateur clock restorer. I took the Sargent lock apart and put oil inside, the ONE key we found with this now ... moreworks great at moving the" deadbolt" back and forth. Nice intact find for a special door in an Antique/ Vintage house. The door knobs measure 2' wide X 1 1/8 deep. Other measurements are in the pictures. Check out my! I believe it is refered to usually as the Bennington swirl in reference to the Bennington clay they used to make marbles from. The lock assembly fits not inside the door but on the outside of the door. Inside the room. As you can see the knobs work the assembly fine. There is NO key to lock& unlock it so I do not know if that works& the little screw that hold the one knob on is missing. The lock has been painted on one side& there is paint spatters on the knobs as well. Please check out the pictures& e-mail with any questions. This is a nice antique skeleton key type door lock set. I do not have the skeleton key that goes with it but it is unlocked and works great. It does need a good cleaning. The door plates have a cutout on the top of it. I'm guessing whoever had these made it that way to custom fit around something. Please see pictures as part of my description.

This is a fascinating antique cast bronze door hardware set by Mallory, Wheeler, Co. dates circa 1880’s. Early turn of the Century. vintage CORBIN door lock assembly with dead bolt & key, reversable
Appears mostly brass and is complete. Can be disassembled and fitted to a door for proper swing on hinges. I have taken this apart. Cleaned, and found all parts in good condition. Depending on which side the lock cylinder is attached. It requires 1 brass screw to lock it in place. The other screw is extra and is recently replaced as a spare(it's a little shorter but can be used) As it is now. It's set for an in-swinging door with hinge point an left. Note the word"top" in picture. Fully functional with 1 key included. Named Corbin. Marked inside.
