The sets consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 iron strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. Originally, the knobs and plates were brass plated; however, some of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. There is some lacquer on both of the escutcheons. The knobs and plates have a lovely. Art Deco style design. Both door knobs are matched, with aged patina, and have a flat, yet decorative edge to the face. The center is indented with a swirled, leaf-like design, which is raised and can be felt to the touch. Here up for auction is an unusual find indeed! Anyone who loves antique door hardware knows this is a sought after type door knob set. Perfectly round glass knobs with no chips- very slight surface scratch here or there but nothing really bad at all. The inside mercury star is perfect with no deterioration. These also have the nickel plated shanks which is unusual- generally you see these with the brass bases. Given that piece of information- these were most likely used for a powder room since the detail is nickel but maybe not. Gorgeous set of knobs. Get a nice deal on these! These came out of a mid-century 1950s house being remodeled and were original to the house. We have five sets of knobs with plates available and this one set pictured here that has a push button lock(maybe from a bathroom) for sale. I love the subtle. Ultra modern design. They are heavy and well made; the set weighing over a pound. They are bronze or antique brass finished and may be bronze or brass but I am not certain. A few have some paints stains and minor signs of use such as light scratches but to me that is part of their authentic vintage chic. All are in working order as far as we can tell.
