They are in perfectly beautiful condition. With a softly glowing patina formed over many many years. They were produced by the Lockwood Mfg Co. back in 1886. The pattern name is"Broken Leaf" and is a rather art deco design- asymmetrical in nature. Featuring a vase and broken stems. This particular pattern has been reproduced. BUT these are ORIGINALS. I found them many years ago in my Grandfather's cellar. And always intended to use them, but never did. I am now 70 and probably never will get to do so- don't let these genuine oldies get away. The decorative face and the strike plate are made of solid cast bronze from antique original pieces. The lock body is cast iron and measures 4 x 3 x 5/8 inches. The working parts are made of cast brass; the face of the lock(5 1/2 x 7/8 x 1/8 inches) and the strike plate are made of solid cast brass or bronze. Mixed Lot of Antique Doorknobs& Hardware Knobs ~ Door Plates ~ Locks ~ Hinges Ornate Victorian Style Bronze? Metal Construction In Various Stages of Wear These were found at a local estate. I do not know much about these types of items; such as how to grade their condition and function so please ask any questions before bidding if I have missed a detail. I will describe everything I see but please use the pictures as a big part of the description. It is a mixed lot with a few of the same and being sold AS IS since I do not know how to test or grade their condition. That is not to say I won't accept a return. I just want you to understand that I am limited in this area. The condition overall is pretty good and these are quite ornate. From what I have found they are antiques. With 2 of the locks stamped"Sargent" the small ... morecylinder style says"Dexter" and the 2 larger one's are unmarked. There aren't any keys for me to test the ones with locks(the 2 larger unmarked one's) One is rusted pretty bad and not sure of the lock will release but the latch works. I am unsure if they are brass or bronze but if I had to guess, bronze. The patina is darker than brass with some green so I suppose some copper. There is surface rust here and there, some worse than others, but I think it can easily be cleaned on most. One of the plates is pretty rus ty and a portion of one of the knobs is corroded with some rust and green. Antique Bronze Entrance Door Set"Bramante" by Russell& Erwin 1899. The quality of American craftsman of the late 19th century has not been matched since. This handsome door set includes doorknobs. Doorplates, and mortise lock with strike plate and keys. The knobs and plates are by Russell and Erwin around 1899 in the Italian Renaissance pattern named"Bramante" The design are wonderfully intricate, with deeply incised Victorian urns, anthemions, and towering flora. The knobs and plates are heavy cast bronze, which has aged beautifully to a dark and rich patina. The knobs have an unusual locking pin mechanism that does not require screws. The lock works well with the newer key and all of these pieces are in very good condition(with the exception of a"ding" on the side of a doorknob- see pic) Doorplates measure ... more3 1/4" wide and 13" tall with a 2 1/8" distance from center of knob shaft to center of lower keyhole. Not chipped. the other matching knobs have an embossed flower like center design heavy weight for size.they were from same estate as the other door knobs we have on auction as well. 7 very nice Victorian bronze. Brass, copper and glass doorknobs. Knobs measure about 2 1/8" and the patina is aged excellent; the glass knob shows extremely few"flea-bites" and it has a real nice purple tint.
