Two Lion Head and one ornate Bronze are from Russell& Erwin and the other two lion heads unmarked, made by another quality hardware firm of the day. These knobs are from the golden age of hardware, when quality hardware was manufactured to last and has. This lot is perfect for the collector or restorer and we are now seeing where furniture remakers and talented artists are making coat and clothing racks using these beautiful knobs. After the Civil War, door hardware changed radically. Some early design patents for decorated hardware were for coffin handles, but it didn't take long for decoration to spread to ... moredoor hardware. By 1869, design patents for hinges, escutcheons, and an outside door latch were granted. The fervor for decorative door hardware was soon heightened by a new casting technique that introduced molten bronze into a mold under pressure, producing castings of exceptional detail. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique"Roanoke" Bronze Entry Door Set w/Knobs Plate Lock Keys. Exquisite. Original, antique entry door set made by“P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT circa 1895. The set consists of 2 bronze knobs, 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 iron lock with bronze faceplate and 2 working keys, 1 brass strikeplate for the door jamb, and a spindle with 2 set screws to connect the knobs. All are bronze/brass parts solid bronze/brass, not plated iron, and are fairly heavy—good quality pieces. They were originally copper plated, however much of the copper has worn off over the years. The knobs and escutcheon feature the Art Nouveau style“Roanoke” pattern which includes flowers. Scrolled foliage, and beads. Notice the swinging keyhole cover on the escutcheon-what a great accent! The ... moreset was salvaged from Southern MN. At the point of salvage. The set was dirty and unevenly tarnished. Since then we've cleaned and polished the bronze parts to the a uniform finish. One half of the spindle is unable to be removed from the knob. To reconnect the knobs requires to engage the threaded portions of the spindle and turn clockwise. Antique 1890's Commercial Bronze Exterior Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plates Lock
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Brass Door Set Knobs Plates Lock& Strikeplate. Distressed. Heavy-duty, commercial grade hardware made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT around the 1890's. It consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 brass mortise cylinder with a brass anti-theft collar, 1 steel mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with a setscrew and a securing pin. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass, not stamped brass or plated iron. Since this set was used for commercial installation. It was designed to be strong and secure. The exterior knob is permanently affixed to the spindle with a securing pin. Once the knob is mounted on the escutcheon, the tall collar of the plate bars access to the pin. The only way you could access the pin is by ... moreloosening the screw and removing the knob on the other side of the door. The lock is not reversible. And it could only accommodate a door that swings into a home, towards the left. If your door swings in the other direction, you could still install this set, but you would have to install it upside down, with the knobs on top, and cylinder mortise on the bottom. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. We found the cylinder mortise without a key. Without a key. We are uncertain if the cylinder works. You could take it to a local locksmith, who could rekey it for under $20. Antique Bronze/Brass Door Knobs(2 1/4" diam. Bronze plates( 5 1/4" x 1 3/4" I believe they were made by FC Linde Co. Cresskill N.J. 1895. But I am not absolutely sure of that. These have been removed from a home that was built in the 1890's, and they maintain their vintage patina. A couple have paint on them, but the majority are not. A couple of the plates are slightly bent. Included: Matching mortise, knobs, spindle, side plates, strike plate and mounting screws. These are being sold as shown in the pictures, so please take a look at the numerous pictures showing these items. Each set may not be exactly perfect, but they are all really pretty nice, and came off of working doors inside the house they were in. Remember, they are over 110 years old! Penn Antique Restoration. Antique RHC Eastlake Entry Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock, Keys Wonderful. Antique, exterior door lockset made by the"Reading Hardware Company" of Reading, Pennsylvania during the late 1800's. The set includes 2 bronze knobs, 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 bronze thumb turn, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate and 2 working keys, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid bronze not plated iron. The lock is reversible and could accommodate either a right or left swing door. All bronze parts have lovely. Aesthetic(Eastlake) style designs consisting of flowers, leaves, wagon-wheels, beads, and various geometric shapes. We found the parts with a rich. Original patina, which we opted not ... moreto disturb. If you prefer your hardware bright and shiny, we could clean and polish all parts prior to shipping for an additional $25-email us after the auction if you're interested. The base of one of the knobs is slightly pushed into the back of the knob. As a result. The knob is 1/8" shorter than the other, and there is a shallow, circular depression(see close up photo of knobs) Once installed, the only way you could see the depression is by pressing your head against the door and looking behind the knob, so it will be pretty hard to notice unless you're looking for it. There are a few small. Dents on the strike plate, but otherwise, all parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. The details are sharp and show few signs of wear. The lock was opened, inspected, and greased to function more smoothly. We made 2 keys to operate the lock, and we could make more for $8/key-email us after the auction if you are interested. It's tough to find complete. Antique sets in such fantastic condition. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Cast Bronze Door Set w/Knobs Plates. Lock. Heavy-duty. Commercial-grade hardware made by, The J.B. Schroder Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio sometime during the first half of the previous century. It consists of 2 bronze knobs, 2 bronze escutcheons, 1 bronze mortise cylinder with a bronze anti-theft collar, 1 steel mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not flimsy stamped bronze or plated iron. The lock is not reversible. And it could only accommodate a door that swings away from the room/building, towards the right. If your door swings towards the left, you could still install this set, but you would have to install it upside down, with the knobs on top, and cylinder ... moremortise on the bottom. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the top button. We found the cylinder mortise without a key. Without a key. We are uncertain if the cylinder works. You could take it to a local locksmith, who could rekey it for under $20. If it is not functional, you could also buy a new cylinder for the same price. When we salvaged the set. The long, thin bolt which inserts into the lock through the small hole above the latches on the faceplate of the lock, to secure the cylinder mortise, was missing. Antique Victorian Eastlake Brass Or Bronze Door Handles Knobs
This is an ornate set of antique Victorian Eastlake brass or bronze door handles or knobs. I would date them 1880s or 1890s. Given their Eastlake design. The long side of each measures 4 3/4 inches long(12.1 cm) The short sides(not including the metal rod) each measure 2 3/4 inches long(7 cm) The one short side that has the metal rod measures 5 7/8 inches long(14.9 cm) They have a classic Eastlake style to them. I'm not sure if they're made of brass or bronze. But the quality is excellent. I don't see a company name on them. But whoever made them did very good work. I am including the lock and escutcheon that you see in the photos as this was how I found the set. I think the lock is original. But not the escutcheon. The handles themselves are probably made of celluloid. Which was an old replacement for an ivory look, first manufactured ... morein the 1870s. On both pieces the section containing the celluloid moves around slightly. I'm not sure if this was done originally or just happened over time. But it doesn't affect the usability of the handles at all. One handle is fully attached to the metal rod that goes into the lock. And does not separate. There is green tarnishing in a few areas. And a few spots with dark dirt on them, most notably the ends of the longer sides of the handles. There are some light dings on the celluloid. But nothing major. This building has since been renamed the Nancy Hanks Center. This hardware is also used on at least two doors(possibly more) in the Smithsonian National Postal Museum which is located on the lower level of the Historic Post Office Building. This one-of-a-kind set is comprised of 2 bronze knobs. 2 huge, bronze escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, 1 nickel-plated brass mortise cylinder w/brass key& nickel-plated brass anti-theft collar, 1 bronze thumbturn mortise cylinder, and 1 threaded, steel spindle and 2 bronze setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid. Heavy, thick, cast bronze, not stamped/pressed bronze or plated iron. Each knob weighs 10oz and each escutcheon weighs almost 2lbs! These ... moreparts are of the highest quality available. The lock and escutcheons were made by"Yale& Towne" of Stamford. CT; the knobs were made in Europe-Portugal, I believe; the mortise cylinder and anti-theft collar were made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT; and the mortise cylinder was made by, Fenestra, which I don't know anything about. The"Yale& Towne" parts were during the late 1800's, and the rest of the parts were made sometime during the first half of the precious century. Each escutcheon has an exquisite design with prim roses. Anthemia, volutes, acanthus leaves, and ribbons. The unadorned section in the middle has a bumpy/hammered texture. The knobs have an unusual slim profile design, embellished with flowers and leaves. The lock is reversible and it could accommodate either a left or right swinging door. It' s locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob or thumbturn on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique"Putnam" Bronze Entry Door Set w/Knobs. Plates, Lock, Keys. Exquisite. Original, antique entry door set made by“P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT circa 1895. The set consists of 2 bronze knobs, 2 bronze escutcheons, 1 iron lock with bronze faceplate and 2 working keys, 1 bronze-plated steel strikeplate for the door jamb, and a spindle with 2 set screws to connect the knobs. All are bronze parts solid bronze, not plated iron, and are fairly heavy—good quality pieces. They were originally copper plated, and although the plates retain most of their plating, most of the copper has worn off of the knobs and lock faceplate. The knobs and escutcheons feature the lovely. Floral, Putnam” pattern. Notice the swinging keyhole cover on the exterior escutcheon-what a great accent! The set was salvaged from ... moreEastern Indiana. At the point of salvage. The set was painted, dirty, and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then we've cleaned and polished the parts to the best of our ability, while trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible. All parts are in great condition with only the nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on 100+ year-old hardware. However. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or gouges. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The buttons on the lock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob from turning. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob will not turn, and the upper latch will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole, or by turning the interior knob. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the house/room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply

These 2 door plates and matching 2 door knobs have the old patina that cannot be replicated. Only years and years of dust. Hands touching, weather and climate can create this kind of aging or patina. These items are very old but the truth is that I don't know exactly how old- maybe they are early 20th Century or they are 19th Century. The condition is very good- there is no damage- there are no screws included. But the square rod that connects the two knobs to each other is included. Each plate measures 11 5/16" long. The metal is solid bronze- not plated.

Heavy, thick, cast bronze-not plated iron. The pair comes with 1 spindle and 2 setscrews. Each knob feature’s MWC’s very popular“Arabic” pattern. The pattern consists of sand dune motifs and an Arabic word in the center. T he beauty of the details are accented by a rich patina. Which we opted to leave. We wiped the knobs with an oil-soaked rag to make them look their best for the photos. However, we didn't remove any of the patina. If you prefer your hardware bright and shiny, we could clean and polish the knobs prior to shipping for $10- let us know after the auction if you are interested. The knobs were salvaged from Southwestern PA. And ... morewere found in great shape. The casting on all knobs is very crisp considering their age. Salvaged vintage original bronze golden bath lot of 7 door knobs handles plate &
This is a formidable group of door handles estimated ca1890. There are seven full handles and eight passes for keys. One of the handles is lockable and works perfectly. The knobs have varied but always in the same style design. The same, handles. These handles are entirely in bronze and had a golden bath that has been disappearing. They are of extremely good quality. So heavy that knob alone weighs 1/4 pound. the total weight of a handle pass the pound. The more elaborate handle has a fantastic job of casting and is the only one that has finely turned wood. This presents a GestDep brand. Other pieces have inscreipciones CESC Cec 72.
