This auction is for the ones pictured herewith consisting of two brass plates that measure 11 3/4" tall and at widest are 3 1/4" They are very fancy and looks like a heart design at top. With it are two locks and two rings and two screws. The locks are marked Made in USA 156. There are no keys. The mortise with the brass faceplate attached is marked B L Co. and I am showing a close up of that. The doors knobs are oval and they do match but the one is smaller than the other and I think that is probably original. The one measures about 2 7/8" and other 2 5/8" and they do match the design on the plates. This is a very nice all original with nice patina brass door hardware set. I guarantee it to be old and original and not a reproduction. It has been so long since these have been used that the mortise lock may need to be overhauled to work properly. Each set consists of 2 glass knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. The majority of the brass plating wore away over the years leaving the surfaces of the parts with a nice, distressed finish. At the point of salvage. All parts were painted, dirty, and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished all parts. Vintage Knob Set. I only show one of each style in the pictures. But all are similar. I have no idea as to the years, they are coming out of a house built in the 1940's. The entry sets use a skeleton key(not included) They do work and have all the parts(knobs, faceplates, mechanism, and there are 2 of them exactly the same. The interior sets(6) are vintage Kwikset, look to be polished brass at one point, but have alot of patina on them. The set was made by“P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the century. It consists of 2 glass knobs with brass shanks, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 working key, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. The escutcheons are made of solid, heavy, thick, cast brass. The majority of glass knobs are faceted; these have a rare. Round, concentric design. Originally, they were colorless, but years of exposure to the sun’s UV rays caused a chemical reaction with the magnesium in the glass to produce a lovely amethyst color-what a great accent! Vintage Sargent SOLID BRASS DOOR KNOB COMPLETE SET With Lock Interior Passage Here is a complete interior passage set. The knobs. Side plates and striker plates are all solid brass. The threaded shaft is steel and the body of the door-set is cast aluminum. The knobs are 2" in diameter. The side plates are solid brass, 2 1/8" in diameter with mounting holes on 1 1/2" centers. The striker plate is 2 1/2" long with screws on 1 7/8" centers. There is a thumb-set lock. The square steel threaded shaft is 3 1/2" long and is 1/4" square. Condition: This set has been used. But still is in excellent working condition. The varnish is mostly worn off of the knobs so that they are beginning to tarnish-but they will polish up nicely with brass polish. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass rosettes, 1 brass thumbturn, 1 mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass-plated steel strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and all 10 screws needed to install the set. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick cast brass, not stamped brass or plated steel. For sale is a pair of vintage brass passage door knobs. They are in good condition for their age. Some light scuffs and wear can be found(see photos) The screw that holds the knob to the spindle is missing but can be easily replaced.
