The rod opening on the back is square shaped, NOT threaded, with a rounded insert to slide into and lock. This opening measures approximately 11/32" Front diameter is 2-3/4" while it measures from the top to the back of the base just over 2-1/4" long. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique French Style Entry Door Set Knobs Plate Lock Key. Wonderful. Antique, entry door lockset made by"Russell& Erwin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. The set consists of 2 cast brass knobs, 2 stamped brass escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 2 working keys, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws to connect the knobs. All brass/bronze parts are solid brass/bronze, not brass plated steel. The knobs and escutcheons have a stunning French style design featuring fleur de lis. Prim roses, leaves, cartouches, and various geometric shapes. All parts were found dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then. We've clea ned and polished all parts to a uniform finish. There is a break in the upper right corner of ... morethe cover plate of the lock body. The break does not hinder the set's functionality and once the lock is installed in your door. It will be concealed. There are also some shallow dents and light scratches on the lock's faceplate. The rest of the parts are in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. The lock was opened. Inspected, and we sprayed machine oil on and around all parts to facilitate their movement. Since the inside threads looked coppery so I polished a small spot on the knob and it looks like brass. They are solid and they are heavy. The lock needs a repair, the last photo shows the piece which was broken inside and needs to be replaced. This is ONE ANTIQUE. Solid brass door knob with a COUNTY OF NEW HAVEN CONNECTICUT and State Emblem. It is a unique, heavy piece in EXCELLENT condition with a beautiful patina. This door knob, which was removed(with permission) from an old New Haven, CT court building before it was either torn down or renovated. This knob, which measures 2 1/2" in diameter, had been affixed to a plaque, so I have no fixing rod etc. although it seems to still have the set screw. Also, it has wood dough put in the opening where the rod should go into for a functional door knob(see photo) This is a great item for a collector interested in historical pieces or for a handy person(obviously not me) with the technical ability to drill out the wood dough and restore this to a working door knob. Antique Orig Victorian Solid Brass Door Knob Set with Lock & Keyway EXCELLENT!
This exquisite set is all original to this lock and period. But could have been married together at one point in the past because the mortise lock plate and the keyway have a Victorian Eastlake design that doesn't seem to match exactly the knob and rosette design. They all were on the door as you see them and, as usual the lock plate was painted white which I stripped off with Stripease(not with wire brushing) and that left a little white in the Eastlake grooves. The mortise lock plate does have some minor scratches and one more major. But not bad, running vertically near the dead bolt, of which I have no skeleton key, sorry. The white paint is also on the rosettes a little bit. The plate could actually be stripped again to get the leftover paint out of the grooves. After the paint lifts, rinse with denatured alcohol. The latch seems ... moreto work fine and I see no reason why the deadbolt wouldn't work with a key made. I hope you can use this gorgeous specimen from the late 1800's. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass rosettes, 1 brass thumbturn, 1 mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass-plated steel strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs, and all 10 screws needed to install the set. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick cast brass, not stamped brass or plated steel. The brass parts were originally copper plated, but most of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. This is considered a privacy set because. Once installed, the lock could only be engaged from the side of the door where the thumb turn is installed. Great set for a bedroom or bathroom. We found the set ... morewith a nice. Warm patina, which we opted to leave undisturbed. This is a antique mortise set with solid brass handles for a screen door. It is marked Corbin. It is in working condition but does not have a key. The brass plate is 7" long and 2 1/4" wide. The mortise plate is 6 1/8" long and 1" wide. The mortise is 2 5/8" deep. 4 1/4" long, and 5/8" wide. The hole for the shaft is 2" to the center from the plate and 7/8" to the center from the top. Antique Solid Brass Door Knob and Metal Spindle
Lovely antique brass door handle with metal spindle. I did not clean it but I used a magnet and there was no attraction until I reached the spindle. Nice detail on face and back of the knob.

This is stunning pair of antique 19th century solid brass Victorian devil face door knob/pulls. they are made from solid heavy bronze and have acquired a lovely patina from age. the face of the knobs are very dimensional and depict a detailed portrait of the devil. they each have threaded metal mounting shafts and a square nut. the handles alone measure 2 inches wide by 1 1/4 inches back to front. the threaded shaft alone measures 2 1/4 inches. they are in nice condition.
