We are offering for auction a large antique pyrography or burnt wood profile portrait of a young Dutch lady or Flemish woman in a bonnet. The back is signed and dated: Alice Paine Roff Aug 18. 1903. She is hand painted which really distinguishes her from the burnt wood background of windmills and tulips. There is another identifying label stuck on the back which states what this is and a price of $195 or $125. Not sure of the relevance so I left it attached. It measures 24" in diameter. Thank you for viewing this auction for one set of matching picture frames. There frames are in the old Victorian style. These frames are constructed primarily out of wood. And have carved/formed plaster designs. The frames are painted gold, and appear to have a newer coat of gold paint on them. Both frames have a hanger installed on their backs that hangs the frames vertically on the wall. I believe these frames are older, but repainted some time ago. The condition of both frames is used but good. The paint is in good condition on both. There is scratches and cracking on both frames, and discoloration in some areas. There is some cracking in the plaster motif, and part of the plaster boarder is missing on one of the frames. Please refer to pictures to gain the best perspective on each frames condition. This is an antique mid 19th century lemon gold gilded reeded deep cove stenciled frame. It dates approximately 1860s to 1870s. Overall. It measures 19 inches x 15 inches(48.3 cm x 38.1 cm) The back opening size is 14 1/8 inches by 10 1/8 inches(35.9 cm x 25.7 cm) The molding measures 2 3/4 inches wide(7 cm) It's a very thick frame at 2 1/2 inches(6.34 cm) The frame has the great age-related marks that develop over the years on these frames. It's made with old square cut nails. There is no glass. The finish has been lightly touched up along one of the short sides where there are a few tiny nicks and very lightly along one of the long sides(please see photos) It has a light chip in three of the corners. But the fourth corner has a large chip measuring 1 inch x 3/8 inch(2.54 cm x.95 cm) It has a few other tiny nicks, but none major. ... moreThe color and patina are lovely. Up for auction is this sweet vintage/antique embroidered portrait of a very pretty little girl wearing a lace sun dress worked on what looks like colored linen further decorated with satin ribbon roses. Very nicely stitched and framed in an exquisite gold gilded carved wood and gesso frame. There is what looks like a water stain on the background. A very unusual scene of the 3 bears– Mama Bear& Papa Bear in their nightshirts. Mama Bear is snuggled up close to the roaring Papa Bear. Around the center picture are small pictures of the bears and parts of the nursery rhyme. With THE THREE BEARS on the upper left side. NO MENTION AT ALL OF GOLDILOCKS– on the lower right side the caption is WELL SHE MIGHT HAVE TOLD US HER NAME.
