Here is a beautiful old antique walnut picture frame. Made in the Adirondack style with carved bark molding, and inner gilt with striped tiger gilt gesso. The entire frame measures 20 1/2 x 26 1/2 ins. while the insert rabbet size is 16 1/8 x 22 1/8 ins. The molding is about 3 ins. wide, and it has a deep cove appearance. The frame is in fair as is condition with a piece of gesso chipped at inner right bottom side, could be touched up with gold paint or left as is. The frame has some mild surface scrapes/scratches common with age. It is a tad wobbly, you would probably consider re-gluing the miter joints for stability.This frame can be used vertically or horizontally. I would date this frame to the 1870-80s time period. This Adirondack-style picture frame is a true antique and is appropriate for pictures from 1850 to 1899. The pictures you see are not included. As they are personal family photos. They are shown to give you a good idea of what your photo would look like in the frame. The frame is sound. Not wobbly. The inside measurement for the glass(not included but easy to get at the glass shop) is 12" x 10" The frame is medium toned walnut with leaf corners. Small Antique Walnut Frame with Gilt Edging Circa Late 1800's Adirondack Design
Up for auction is a walnut Victorian frame. Adirnondack design with intricate carving. No defects noted. Minor scratches on gold insert, commensurate with age. I do not touch up my antique pieces as I am a purist and would prefer the buyer to make modifications. This is an unusal piece and in my antiques career, I have never come across this type of frame in such a condition. Carvings are not damaged, which is usually the case.
