The inside has a pressed cardboard matte with a diamond decoration, holes for displaying 3 photos, and a protective glass. The back has a velvet cover with an easel stand. We are not sure of the age, guessing 1950's. CONDITION: The metal may have been repainted. We are not sure. Gorgeous old frame.im not sure of the metal though of what it is.It has oxidized areas. Gone green.in parts. I have used this frame in my home to display two Santa prints made of German postcard images.you can have them if you want them. The glass is held in place with the velvet backed boards using nails that slide into holes. It has lots of ware. Velvet is deteriorating but this is still lovely in your home. Sold as seen. Antique Victorian Cast Gilt Metal Painted Photo Picture Frame Or Mirror Acanthus
Victorian cast metal or brass that is painted off white picture frame or mirror. The picture frame has very nice rococco style acanthus leaves designs all round and it is self standing with an easel type of metal on the back that folds in or extends out to hold the picture frame in place. The area for a picture or for a mirror has an opening on the front of 3 3/4" X 5 1/2" The measurements of the whole frame are 12" long X 8 1/2" wide. Please note that we are not sure if the off white paint finish is original to the frame or if someone did this at a later date. We do know however. That the frame itself is indeed dating from the Victorian Era. If the new owner wishes to remove the off white paint, the frame would show its gold gilt under coat which is now visible in a few areas here and there where the paint wore off. However. There is a new epoxy that just came out last year that will set this piece back in place permanently. Rectangular frame measures 10" high X 7 3/4" wide. Picture opening on back side measures 6 1/8" high X 4 3/8"wide. Picture opening on front measures 5 3/8" high x 3 5/8" wide. There is a raised design on front of frame consisting of flowers. Vines and leaves with a solitary bee on a stone wall. Pics are held into place with wire braces located at each corner of the frame opening on back side. The frame stand folds to one side when not in use and has a stop when extended fully.
