This is a Nice Older Gilded Wood Picture Frame. Opening for picture is 24"x32" and total size is 36"x44" It is about 4" thick and has a 1/4" depth(rabbet) And weighs 12 pounds. I am not sure if it is gold leaf. But gently wiped it off, just in case. There is some red under one of the small scuffs. So it might be gold leaf. I have had it a long time. And it is really lovely, but we really need to downsize. It has a few small scuffs. And a little darker on about 1/2 side of one frame side. Gently used and it doesn't include glass. Your neighborhood hardware store will sometimes cut a piece for a few dollars. It weighs 12 pounds. And large, so shipping is quite high. If you could pick it up. This frame formerly held a large mirror when it was in the possession of the corporate offices offices of The Gleason Book Company. It was fitted with a built up back to accept a mirror. The mirror has since been broken and removed from the frame. This frame was originally used to house an oil on canvas painting. Our hope is that this frame once again surrounds a gorgeous American oil on canvas painting. However the pieces are still in place to add a gorgeous mirror. The frame is in very good condition. 98% of the frame is all there. The gold gilt is all original and there is no in paint touch ups or gold overpaint anywhere on this frame. It is very hard to find these massive large frames ... morewith no touch up and in such fine condition. There are of course a few areas of gesso and gilt loss but that are small and din not take away from the beauty of this frame. One applied corner ornament is missing. Up for auction is a lovely antique gilded molded gesso Eastlake frame. American, dated to the early 1900s. This frame has been in my family for ages and I've had it in my clean, non-smoking home for about 15 years. As I've downsized, I no longer have the wall space for it. FAUX BOIS Grain Painted Folk Art OLDorig GOLD GILDED Federal ART PICTURE FRAME
Up for auction is this great old antique frame with an apparently interesing paint history. At one time in it's past it was completely gold gilded. There are traces of the gold under the brown paint and under the orange grain painted columns on all sides. It is now an orange and cream folk art grain painted design on the raised columns with duller gold bands with that shiny gold gilding peeking through all over. Three of the corners have a round metal decoration, 1 corner is missing the metal. The construction is sound, all corners are tight, there is no wobble. Old antique square cut nails are visible on the back with 2 old eyehooks. Measures 22 1/4 inches by 11 3/4 inches. The inside measurements from the back are 19 1/2 inches by 9 1/4 inches. Displays beautifully as is, not sure what would be involved to strip it down to the original ... moregilding. At any rate, it is a very unique frame. This is a stunning antique hand carved wood bald eagle picture frame. it is beautifully gilded in gold and is nicely carved with intricate detailing. it has two curved arms which hold the middle of the picture frame on each side. it pivots back and forth on the arms. the frame it topped with a detailed bald eagle finial and the base is nicely footed. the frame measures 9 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. the opening measures 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. it is in nice antique condition. Come cracking in the eagle from age buts gives a nice antique look. Here is a antique Victorian fancy picture frame. Incised grained on outer frame and then a stenciled gilt inner frame. the frame measures 14 3/4 x 12 3/4 in total, 10 3/16" x 12" picture insert size and 1 3/4 deep. The frame is in fair/good vintage condition with some minor chips, some spotting in the gold gilt areas, some surface scratches and holes from nails. Since this frame is over 100 years old, it's in nice sturdy condition. Picture also comes with it, has a family with baby and small dog. Looks to be, two Letters in bottom of left corner, that I can't make out, thanks so much for looking and enjoy vintage.
