0005 SALE Classic Vintage Solid Wood Frame 12 x 14 Dark Frame, Probably Mahogany
Old Dark Wood Frame This piece came from a very old estate recently. It's probably mahogany. It's 12" x 14" exterior. Inside opening is 10.75" x 9" It is deep. About 2.5" and the middle inside has a black stripe giving it an even deeper look. Still has some paper on the back from previous use. It's a tiny bit loose if you try hard but it's pretty tight still. Will frame a nice old piece perfectly or maybe for a shadow box. Has wear that can be seen in the close ups. It's just a nice old frame. I'm not an expert in all things so if you have any questions please ask before you bid. I'll do everything possible to answer your additional questions as I have given the best description I can and want a happy satisfied buyer. I think the photos say it all though. This is an antique OVAL WOODEN PICTURE FRAME with gilt inset and the outer ring is lined with beaded gilt. The frame measures 14 1/4" X 12 1/4" and the picture size is 8" X 10" and is 1 1/4" deep. The frame has scratches in the surface and a small area(about a half inch) where the beading has come off on the outer edge near the bottom of the frame. The gilting on the inset area has 3 cracks in it. The photo is that of a woman sitting. There is one area where there is a red cushion she is setting her right arm on. Winner gets a great antique. Fancy gold gilt gesso and wood Hudson River School frame. The frame is in overall great condition, with only very minor gesso loss on the outer border. The frame has an inner beaded border, which is also in great condition with no gilt loss. The intermediate border which connects the outer border to the beaded inner border, does have a few small scratches and gilt loss, as seen in picture 3. Victorian Eastlake Picture Frame Incised Ebonized Wood Stenciled Gilt 12.5 x 14.25 in This beautiful late Victorian Eastlake style frame has ebonized wood with an incised design and an pretty stenciled geometric pattern on half of the inner gilt molding. it measures 12 1/2 by 14 1/4 inches with an opening of 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches. The thin gesso is chipped on the outer gilt edge at the lower right. And on the upper left corner. The gilt is worn in several places along the edge, and there are several smaller chips on the interior gilt molding. There are a number of holes on the back from nails of various sized. Antique Handmade Picture Frame 12" x 14" with Hand-Drawn Portrait
This combination of frame and portrait have a"WOW" factor! The frame is made in three layers: The outer layer is wood. The next layer appears to be celluloid, painted black and carved with a bellflower design that shows up white. The inner layer is gold-tone metal with a brown hand-painted design. When you look at the back, you can see that it is put together with little nails with square shanks& square heads. The glass has several tiny imperfections or bubbles that indicate that it is old, also. While the outside dimensions of the frame are 12" x 14"x 3" deep, the picture area would take an 8" x 10" picture. The portrait is of a young woman. And based on her clothing& hair style, my guess would be around the late 1860's. The picture could have been done at a later date of an ancestor who lived ... morein the earlier period. Here is a beautiful vintage hand-carved wood picture frame circa 1950s. It measures 17 1/2 x 19 1/2 ins. in total. And the insert rabbet size is 12 1/8 x 14 1/8 ins. A 12 x 14 ins. piece of art will work in here. The wood is a lighter weight wood, and has been finished with a gilt gold and a beige wash over that. Alot of the finish is worn away, and the red bole underlay is revealed. This gives it a really gorgeous authentic patina, that is faked in newer frames today to mimic the original old ones. The frame is in fair/good as is vintage condition with the aforementioned finish of gilt gold and beige paint worn away, a one are of the inert liner wood has a crack in it.
