Antique 19th C Walnut Frames w/ Original Signed Portrait Watercolor Paintings
We are listing today for your consideration a lovely pair of Antique 19th Century Deepset Walnut Wood and Gilt Frames with Original Signed Watercolor Painting Portraits of Man& Woman. We are assuming Husband& Wife. The frames and paintings are in Excellent Shape with minimal wear to the walnut frames. The frames measure 15" x 12 3/4" x 2 5/8" The have gold gilding as well as the original gilt edged mat and the paintings are below glass. The portraits are signed each D.J. Artist on the front in watercolor and on the back David Jones 71& David Jones 72 in pencil. We don't know anything about the artist, we did a search and came up with nothing. The painting of the man has a stamp on the paper in black Hovey's Rives. We could not find anything on that as well. Each portrait is on cut out paper which is pasted ... moreon heavier paper. The portraits are period as well as the frames so we are assuming that the 71 and 72 are for 1871 and 1872. Vintage 2 Mid Century Art Deco Pochoir Stencil Watercolor Paintings Brass Frame
WELCOME TO MY PAGE UP FOR AUCTION: PAIR OF VINTAGE BRASS FILIGREE FRAMED ART DECO MID CENTURY MINIATURE STENCIL WATERCOLOR SIGNED PAINTINGS The featured items represent a pair of stencil watercolor miniature paintings. They are done on a hard square paper with sides 5 3/4" The visible area behind the protective glass is about 4 1/4" The pochoir are framed in ornate brass filigree design frames. They depict a Deco style woman wearing a long dress. On one of the painting the woman is facing left and holding a fan. In the other one she is facing right and hold something like a flower(cannot tell for sure) in her hands. The images are diagonal so if you want them to look straight you have to hand them on the corner. Not certain of the country of origin of the pieces. They are singed under their feet with initials that looks like"AF" ... moreor"DF" As far as the age I would speculate they were painted in the middle of the last century. The pochoir are in overall good condition for their age with no cracks on the glass or broken pieces off the brass frame. The paint is well-preserved but there are some spots or minor water damages on the paper. But they are mostly out of the images area. They each have a beautiful red floral stemmed plant with a miniature man on a horse on one painting and a man on a bull on the other. Both paintings share colors of blue and lime green with rose colored background. These paintings are signed by the artist Mathews. They are both framed in fabulous carved wood frames. The outer edge is flat and the inside is carved with a scalloped detail. The frames are painted an antique white with gold flects. There is wear and a few light scratches to the painted finish from age and use(see pics) Wire on the backs for hanging. Some of the brown paper backing is torn. But mostly intact. 4 vintage Chinese silk watercolor scroll paintings of birds & flowers
4 Chinese paintings on silk depicting birds and flowers These lovely paintings were purchased in Hong Kong around the 1970s- 1980s by my grandparents. And were never displayed. The images of birds and flowers are painted on silk, matted with strips of silk brocade, and glued to a paper backing. Three of the paintings are in excellent condition, while the fourth one has a few light foxing marks. They are all signed in Chinese characters with artist seals. The painted images measure approximately 8.5" x 7.5" in size, plus the silk matting border. The total size of the paper with the matting is 11.5" x 9.5" Please contact me with any questions.
