These all came from a recent house clearance, and were found in the attic amongst other items, including a case of vintage artist materials which I have for sale on another auction. I am selling a piece of cloth which is gold coloured and has strands of what I assume is real gold running through it. It is a very tiny piece which has been mounted many years ago under a 3.1/2" square lantern slide glass. The cloth has provenance in the form of a letter with it dated 1903 saying it is from the chair in Westminster Abbey in which King Edward VII sat in at his Coronation in 1902. It came in a lantern slide box with another slide which has mounted under it a piece of cord which says'cut by the Royal Yacht in opening Keyham Extension Works' there is no provenance with this, although it looks to have been mounted many years ago and also looks to be genuine. There are also two small mounted photographic prints, one being just about discernable- the other very badly faded. Also, there is the vintage lantern slide glass box. I felt it better to sell all of this as one lot, as it has evidently been together for many years. An interesting, and I would say, a very rare genuine item from the Coronation in Westminster Abbey in 1902. Description: Antique Ann Hathaway's Cottage- Wall Plaque. It is an ivory looking product that is molded to look like ivory. It has the sculpted image of Ann Hathaway's Cottage in Shorrery and has a wire hanger on the back. Most of the plaques had house and no people in it. Trademarked, Dated By Arthur Osborne. size 8 3/4" x7 7/8" Some of these wall plaques appear in three variations: the originals made by Osborne; copies made by Bossons but painted in Kent and copies produced entirely in South Cheshire.Telling Osborne originals from Bossons copies is easy: all the originals are marked with the AO(for Arthur Osborne) copyright mark. Usually on the bottom right front of a plaque and various trademarks on the reverse, while Bossons removed the AO copyright mark and used self adhesive labels or stamps instead of the trademarks on the back. Kent, England at 83 Abbey Street between 1899 and 1965 by the B. Osborne Company, founded by Arthur Osborne, the inspired sculptor of the incredible art that he named Ivorex. Arthur Osborne was born in England on the 13th of August 1855. As Arthur Monk, in Ospringe Street, in the village of Ospringe, Faversham Kent, he was the son of a bookseller/ printer and having shown artistic talents in his early years, attended South Kensington School, which at the time was considered to be one of the best in the country for art subjects. The family name was changed to Osborne at some time during the late 1860s, and in the mid 1870's Arthur Osborne, as he was now known, emigrated, first to Canada, then on to the United States of America, where he settled in Boston Massachusetts and found a job working for the J. and J.G.Low Art Tile Company. Here he became their top designer of low relief tiles and it was upon these tiles that the AO mark of Arthur Osborne first appeared.
