A very charming subject. A boy and a girl have taken off their hats and they are using them to try to catch the butterfly. Bright Vibrant colors. The top is slightly domed. The base is a pale pink. The hinges are very good with the original patina. The condition is very good. This box is over 200 years old. The inside has some old restoration that has yellowed. Pictured. This Patch Box is English, enamel on copper. Circa 1780. Measures approximately 2" x 1 ¼" x 1" tall. I assure you that this authentic and not a reproduction or a 19th Century Sampson French enamel copy. You can tell from the hinge that this is English. Circa 1760- 1820. A very RARE 18th Century English Enamel Bouje Box. The box held a long circular candle that was threaded out of the top. The handle is so you could light your way to bed. The candles are the ones found in a Wax Jack. The ground of the enamel is Pompadour Pink with a raised dot pattern. Roses and flowers depicted within a cartouche. The base is a white ground with a small floral design. There is some light crazing on the enamel. However this box is over 200 years old. Original brass mounts in very good condition. Lift off top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have never seen this particular Battersea Motto Box before. A Man& woman are standing in church at a rail. On the other side is a Minister or Clergy man with his book open. On the back wall are the Ten Commandments. The writing on the top tells the story, The Single Married, the Married happy” Pastel colors on the top of the box, the bottom of the box is sky blue. Slightly domed top. The box is in good condition. Especially when you realize that this box is over 200 years old. The original mirror in the lid is in good condition. The hinges are in very good condition and closes nice and tight. Just, some minor hairlines on the top and base. Some wear on the back of the blue enamel, all pictured. A very pretty Large Table Snuff Box. The background is Pompadour Pink with raised dot design and gold scroll work around the FIVE landscape vignettes. Pastoral scenes. Measuring approximately 4” x 3” x 2 ¾” The gilt metal hinge is in good working order. There is a small chip on the front of the box. Pictured. This is a great early Battersea enamel open salt. It is in good shape for its great age.There is no enamel loss to the three vista's shown around the outside and only a few crazing lines on the white interior and in the tops of some of the scenes.The feet however have major enamel loss and are very thin and and bend very easily.I have shown six photos of the feet from all angles so you can see the enamel loss.I believe it is very rare to have three such nicely detailed scenic vistas around the salt.It is 2 1/2" wide at the top and 3 1/4" wide foot to foot on the base. A Battersea Bilston English enamel patch box with a very appealing Love Motto. On the top are a pair of Love Birds with"Who Opens this Must have a Kiss" This box is 18th Century and the middle S is written as an f. The ground color is a beautiful lavender pink. The mirror in the lid is in good condition. The hinges are in very good condition. Just a replaced hinge pin. Minor but mentioned for accuracy. The base has a little touch up. Not noticeable to the untrained eye. One of the most romantic mottos in a patch box. People in this era were very restrained. This Patch Box is English. Enamel on copper. Circa 1780.
