This is a Museum Quality Enamel on Copper Bonbonnière, Patch Box or Snuff Box in the form of Love Birds. The extraordinary bird form box is from the collection ... moreof the Indianapolis Museum Of Art. The Bonbonierre is most likely Bilston Battersea or South Staffordshire England and dates to circa 1780. The box is in the shape of two entwined love birds. The two birds are enameled with magnificent design. One bird is primarily blue, the other yellow. On the bottom is an enamel picture of birds in a nest and on a perch in a pastoral background. The enamel work on the box is of the highest quality and is absolutely gorgeous with fabulous design and wonderful colors. This is one of the finest figural bonbonierre patch boxes we have seen and so rare to be in the form of two love birds. The bottom of the box is separated from the top.

BATTERSEA/BILSTON COBALT ENAMEL OPEN SALT 1770s-1820s WITH 3 SCENES NO RES
This is a great early Battersea enamel open salt. It is in good shape for its great age. There is no enamel loss to the three vista's shown around the outside and only a few crazing lines on the white interior and in the tops of some of the scenes. The feet however have major enamel loss and are very thin and and bend very easily.I have shown six photos of the feet from all angles so you can see the enamel loss.I believe it is very rare to have three such nicely detailed scenic vistas around the salt.It is 2 1/2" wide at the top and 3 1/4" wide foot to foot on the base.
