An antique oil on canvas painting of birches with homes and pond in background. Signed lower left T Bailey with excellent bark and leaf decorated plaster frame. The painting, 20" wide by 16" high within frame measuring 26" by 22" has been cleaned and ready for hanging. I believe the frame is original to the painting, the color of the back of the frame and the stretcher are very much the same. William Paskell usually comes to mind as the artist that did many of the T Bailey paintings, but I did not feel comfortable attributing this one to him.the signature looks good but it doesn't have the Paskell feel other than the birches. The frame, in secondary gilt, is gorgeous with the nature motif featuring bark, knots and leafs.there are several chips that you don't see easily.the cloth liner is quite worn with some tearing.the ... moreinner plaster liner is wonderful and the depth is good. Antique Maine? 1860 Forest & Sea Landscape~Oil Painting~Deep Ebonized Gilt Frame
Beautiful oil on board of forest on a cliff overlooking the sea. Stone steps lead up the hill through the pines. I have had many people remark that this reminds them of Maine. But it may be from elsewhere.the hills in the distance might provide a better locator to where this was painted. I've always loved the verticality of the trees and steps in the picture. Combined with the tall proportions of the frame. The deep frame gives a sense of looking through a window on this beautiful scene. The ebonized wood of the frame plays beautifully off the deep iron green of the pines. The frame dates to the 1860s-1890s. But I don't know exactly when the painting was done. 1860s in the title was my best guess.it may be later or earlier. It is most definitely old, and could use a light cleaning if you wish Frame measures approximately 12-1/2" ... morex 9x3/4" x 1-3/4" deep I cannot find any signature. The frame appears to be pine and is quite solid. The patina of the pine on the reverse is appropriate for the piece. The nails that hold in the painted board from the back are irregular. And look to be perhaps hand cut?

This Is A Beautiful Oil Painting Of The Red Jacket Ship Painted On Slate. On The Bottom Left It Says"Red Jacket 1853" Written In Yellow Paint. This Piece Was Picked Up At An Auction In New England. The Slate Is Mounted On A Wood Board With Screws. I Would Date This Piece To The Early 20th Century But It Is Hard To Date. The Ship Is Painted Beautifully And You Can Tell This Artist Had Talent. It Is Signed On The Bottom Right In Yellow. There Is An American Flag Flying On The Ship. This Is A Somewhat Famous Ship. Red Jacket was a clipper ship. One of the largest and fastest ever built. She was also the first ship of the White Star Line company She was named after Sagoyewatha, a famous Seneca Indian chief, called"Red Jacket" by settlers. Fantastic dummy board. Fire screen. signed E. Leonard. Oil painting on canvas, artist board backing applied to frame. There are no tears or rips in the canvas. There is one area where they overlapped the canvas that the small nails have pulled through but not damaging the painting.Overall there are 4 nail heads that are missing.some minor chips in the paint as seen in the pictures. Center section is 36 inches tall and 30 inches wide. The sides are 9 inches wide and 32 inches tall to the point and 30 1/2 inches tall on the shorter side. The outer edges are tacked with folded canvas. The signature is on the top of a barrel on the left"flap" of the dummy board. Please look at the pictures that are available, request more if needed.This dummy board is in used condition of course. but truly is beautiful and a tremendous work of art with ... morethe appropriate crazing in the oil painting. There is no damage to the wood. I could not get the camera to focus enough to show it. Painting is fastened with newer z clips in a 11 1/2' x 18 1/2' older gold wood period frame. Image is of a wine or champagne glass some berries in a basket on a lace covered table. Painting is nicely done and the size is 10' x 16 1/2' Painting is in very good condition for it's age. It is painted on canvas mounted with nails on wood stretcher bars.There are some minor scraps. Scuffs, and minor crackling on the frames and painting that do not detract from the painting. Up for bids is this Antique Mid 19thC English Paper Mache Warwick Castle Oil Painting MOP Inlay Tray. This tray was made in England during the mid 19thC. The tray is made of paper mache and the center is painted with an oil painting that is titled Warwick Castle. Warwick castle is depicted in the background with a water scene that has a house on the bank and 2 people fishing in a small boat. The painting is surrounded by Mother of Pearl inlay and the border has gilt leaves which are painted on. The tray measures 16 3/4" in width. 13 3/4" in depth, and is 3/4" in height. This piece is in great condition with just some very minor wear and just one very small and shallow 1/2" chip to the backs edge which would not be visible when the piece is displayed.
