The portrait is actually a polychrome. ... moreOr a high quality chromolithograph which has been painted over and the details and colors added by hand by a talented artist. In this example, the over-painting is so completely and expertly done that the underlying guide lines can hardly be seen, if at all. Condition is very good with the following points to mention. There are no cracks or hairlines. But there is a tiny flat flake at approximately 7:00 o'clock. The flake is so shallow and smooth that it actually looks more like the loss of a tiny spot of paint and doesn't feel rough to the touch. At one time, there was gold outlining the rim and on the background surrounding the portrait, but this is mostly gone.The remaining gold almost has a sponged-on effect that is not at all unpleasant to my eye. There is virtually no paint loss to the portrait itself, and only minimal surface scratches, but these are so tiny and few that possibly this dish was used as a trinket tray rather than a butter pat which would have come into contact with butter knives. There is also a little roughness on the foot rim which is a factory condition from when the porcelain was placed in the kiln. If you collect hand painted butter pats. This would be a nice addition to your collection despite the few tiny flaws, because a“male” subject is far less common than a young girl or pretty lady portrait. Approximately 2-3/4” at longest length. Attributed to the Heubach firm which was founded in Lichten. Germany c.1840 by brothers(Gebruder) Georg Christoph& Phillipp Jakob Heubach. The company was forced to close in 1938. They were mostly known for bisque dolls and piano babies, but also manufactured quality household items. Their“sunburst” trademark was registered in 1882& therefore, most unmarked items were produced prior to that date(although not all pieces were marked) This dish does not have the sunburst mark but the porc

Antique 19th C Chinese Hand Fan Applied Faces Silk Clothing Two Paintings w Box
Antique Chinese hand fan in need of some restoration Each side of this fan is a different fine gouache painting in the pattern often referred to as"1000 Faces" The paintings depict elaborate scenes with each side showing at least 45 people engaged in a multitude of activities. If you zoom in on the pictures you will see the fine detail and the wonderful craftsmanship. Each figure has an applied painted face made out of what I think is ox bone The clothing is also applied- silk fabric cut and painted and perfectly placed. The wood ribs are pierced and carved very delicately the guards are wood with deep relief carving. The fan measures 20.5 inches or 52 cm wide when fully open and is 11 inches(28 cm) long when closed It is accompanied by its original lacquer fan box which has a painted silk lining on the inside of the lid. The box ... moreis in nice condition without real damage The paintings are not severely damaged- there is one area where the paper has folded incorrectly- that is the white spots in the last photo the folds show some loss. And the bottom border shows loss. and there are tiny separations on the folds on the edges The paintings are still beautiful with bright color and design. and only two applied faces are missing The ribs have several breaks and two missing bits. Unfortunately someone decided to repair this fan with scotch tape not that serious a problem to remove from the ribs but damaging the paper in the 5 places where the tape contacts the painting. Offered for sale is a pair of framed hand painted portrait on porcelain. Each piece has a woman portrait painting on 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" porcelain dish mounted on high quality gold gilded and velvet wooden shadow box frame. The frame is 7" x 7" x 2"Thickness. The paintings are unsigned on front. I am not sure whether they have signatures on the back. I can't take them down. From the paintings I believe they were painted by a master painter. Age and origin unknown. I would guess they are either from Germany or France. The porcelain dishes have minor chips or scuffing on the edges showing the age of these pieces. These minor flaws do not detract the beauty of these piece. Both paintings are in great shapes. overall the pair is in very good to excellent condition. The frames preserve so well. Antique Spanish Hand Fan, 2-Sided Paintings, Litho & Painted, Circa 1860
This is a really lovely Spanish hand fan. Wonderfully carved and pierced wooden sticks and guards. The right guard has a oval mirror in a gold-tone metal frame. At the bottom of the sticks is a MOP guard front and back with a MOP washer. The loop is brass. This is a 2-sided fan with different scenes on both sides. They were lithographed and painted. I think. The fan measures 10-1/2"long by 20" wide. The box it came in leaves much to be desired but it protects the fan, which is most important. I showed the label, which is very colorful.

Set 3 Antique Vtg Black Americana Watercolors Hand Paintings Originals 1940s
Vintage(estimated 1940s or 1950s) set of 3 Black Americana watercolors painted on a felt paper. These are genuine and old. Took one out of frame to illustrate age. Found the paper is yellowed showing age of these(see photos) Did not want to take the other 2 out of frames for fear of accidental tearing of felt paper. 1 is a black woman with pancakes. 1 is a black woman stirring in a mixing bowl(notice the salt and pepper shakers) the last is a black man(perhaps a bartender) shaking a drink with a cigar in his mouth.
