Size 10(RESIZING AVAILABLE) Not cheap silver electroplate! This is a high-quality. Solid sterling silver designer ring manufactured by one of America’s leading semi-custom mount manufacturers. NOTE: Resizing is available(may incur nominal extra cost depending on size required) DESCRIPTION: The ancient Egyptians believed that the skin of their gods was composed of gold. And their bones were thought to be of silver. When silver was introduced into Egypt, it probably was more valuable than gold(silver was rarer and more valuable than gold in many Mesoamerican cultures as well) In surviving inventories of valuables, items of silver were listed above those of gold during the Old Kingdom. Jewelry made of silver was almost always thinner than gold pieces, as indicated by the bracelets of the 4th Dynasty(about 2,500 B.C. When the price of silver finally did fall due to more readily available supplies, for at least another thousand years the price of silver was fixed at half that of gold. Several royal mummies attributable to about 1,000 B.C. were even entombed in solid silver coffins. Around 1.000 B.C. Greek Athenians began producing massive amounts silver from the Laurium mines, and would supply much of the ancient Mediterranean world with its silver for almost 1,000 years. Celebrating that heritage, here’s a gorgeous, high quality sterling silver semi-custom sterling silver ring. The ring is robustly constructed, much more substantial and heavier than the typical ring band. Please do not confuse this with cheap silver electroplate. This is a high-quality ring manufactured right here in the USA by one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of gold and sterling silver semi-custom mounts. It’s an heirloom quality ring designed and produced to last a lifetime…and beyond! HISTORY OF SILVER: After gold. Silver is the metal most widely used in jew

DETAIL: Jade was widely used by primitive peoples as tools and weapons in the Neolithic. Especially in Europe, Mexico, Asia, New Zealand, and North Africa(including ancient Egypt) The best-known finds are from the lake dwellings of Switzerland, western France, and China. The source for Europe’s Neolithic jade remains undiscovered, but it was probably from a deposit in the Alps. Nephrite is very hard and was prized for keeping a sharp edge. In the Americas the Aztecs, Mayas, Olmecs, Toltecs, and other Pre-Columbian peoples of Mexico and Central America carved jadeite for use as ornaments, amulets, and badges of rank. Nearly all of these Meso-American jades are of various shades of green, with emerald green the most highly prized color among the Aztecs. The jade carvings range from plaques, figurines, small masks, pendants, to of course, tools and weapons. The widespread use of jade died out in Meso-America after the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. Here are two nice quality 19th century antique hand crafted/shaped/polished semi-precious jade gemstones. The gemstones were hand shaped and polished by a 19th century Russian artisan. NOTES: Upon request we can set your gemstones as a ring. Pendant, or as earrings(click for more information) DETAIL: There are ancient references to ametrine from Persian. Roman, and Greek sources. Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest an ancient source of ametrine in India, and indeed ametrine was(re)discovered recently in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh near Hyderabad, an ancient city which was a trading center on the camel caravan route which crossed to Persia and Europe on one side, and China and Russia to the other side. There is also evidence of a medieval source of ametrine in Scotland, perhaps in the general vicinity of the Devonian lava beds in Angus, Scotland. However ametrine first became famous in the modern world in the seventeenth century when a Spanish conquistador received it as a dowry when he married a South American Indian princess. Ametrine was subsequently introduced to Europe through the conquistador's gifts to the Spanish queen. Celebrating this historicallegacy here is a very large. Very clean, handcrafted checkerboard faceted oval cut ametrine from the Anahi Mine in Bolivia. Imported for use in indigenous jewelry, the gemstone was hand crafted and faceted by a Russian artisan, part of an heritage renown for the production of the elaborate gemstones and jewelry of the Czars of Medieval, Renaissance, and Victorian Russia. In Sanskrit, one of the primary languages of nearby ancient(East) India a ruby was called"ratnaraj" which means"King of Gems" To them, this fiery stone burned with an inextinguishable fire, capable of boiling the water in which it was placed. Ancient Indian legends said that God first created ruby and later created man to possess it, and that he who offered rubies to the gods would be reincarnated as a powerful king or emperor. In ancient India rubies were also sorted into upper class, middle class, and lower class stones in relation to their color, flawlessness and beauty. Much like Indian society today, no inferior ruby was allowed contact with an upper class ruby because it was believed the low-caste ruby would contaminate the better one, thereby diminishing its magical powers. And that he who offered rubies to the gods would be reincarnated as a powerful king or emperor. In Sanskrit, one of the ancient languages of India, ruby was called"ratnaraj" which means"King of Gems" To them, this fiery stone burned with an inextinguishable fire, capable of boiling the water in which it was placed. In nearby ancient Burma it was believed that a ruby must not just be worn, but embedded in the skin to become part of the body, thus making the wearer invulnerable. Publisher: Wrens Park Publishing; 1999) Although there have been many books written about medieval women. Few have focused specifically on the lady. In a book designed as a companion to the author's previous book. The Knight in Medieval England. Professor Coss attempts to remedy this with a work which concentrates on the role of the lady within medieval society, how she was perceived both by herself and by her male counterparts, how she related to and participated within the seemingly prevailing male culture of gentility, how the lives of lords and ladies inter-related, and how they behaved towards one another. The author begins by introducing the issues to be discussed through the example of the Pastons of the fifteenth century. The origins of the English lady are then considered and her position. Status and image during the eleventh and twelfth centuries examined, highlighting both changes and continuities. The book then develops this theme by looking at the widening gentility in England during the succeeding centuries, especially as expressed through a variety of visual media. Employing a variety of sources. Including double monumental effigies, brasses, and surviving letters, Professor Coss opens to popular scrutiny the affective relations between lord and lady, before turning to antagonistic relationships. DETAIL: The ancient Egyptians believed that the skin of their gods was composed of gold. Several royal mummies attributable to about 1.000 B.C. were even entombed in solid silver coffins. Around 1,000 B.C. Greek Athenians began producing massive amounts silver from the Laurium mines, and would supply much of the ancient Mediterranean world with its silver for almost 1,000 years. In celebration of that heritage here are two gorgeous, high quality solid sterling silver post type hoop earrings. Please do not confuse these with cheap silver electroplate. These are high-quality solid sterling silver earrings made right here in the USA, crafted to last a lifetime. HISTORY OF SILVER: After gold. Silver is the metal most widely used in jewelry and the most malleable. The oldest silver artifacts found by archaeologists date from ancient Sumeria about 4,000 B.C. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover with Dust Jacket: 159 pages. Publisher: Sterling Publishing Company. Inc. 1997) The Celtic world. As it existing in three separate countries with a common spirit and tradition; Ireland, Wales, and Brittany, is brilliantly revealed in these exciting epic chronicles with 120 evocative photographs of artifacts, manuscripts, and landscapes that bring the Celtic world to life as never before. Ireland, land of ancient warriors who value nothing higher than fame and courage as they battle magical forces pitted against them. Ancient warriors whose deeds are as noble and mysterious as the hill forts and standing stones scattered around the landscape. Ancient warriors whose love of exaggeration and boasting compare with the most extravagant blarney. These are the Celts revealed by the early Irish chronicles. Wales. A land of bands and druids hemmed into a beautiful, mountainous country where King Arthur roamed with his knights. The Welsh warriors saw themselves as defenders of the west, heroes who would one day hurl the foreign oppressors back into the sea. These dramatic chronicles date back to the Middle Ages, but they are truly much older than that. They tell of love and betrayal, of quests and challenges, of supernatural creatures and of murder. Battling dragons. Tyrants, and sorcerers, the warriors of Brittany were people of the sea. Hermits, missionaries, mystics, they passed down their tales of mystery and magic orally through the centuries. They are captured here from a time when the old pagan days were dying out, and the secret, supernatural skeins of the early mystical Celts were quickly attaching themselves to a new religion.
