Quartzite-limestone composite, 1.25 inches square(30 mm) one inch(25 ... moremm) on black acrylic mount, with display stand& back-label ID. Museum replicas from the Indus Seals Collection of Pakistan's Islamabad Museum. classic Indus Valley seals recovered from Mohenjo Daro during the 1930's. As was the custom. Indus Valley pictographs record a proverb of the day in a language which remained undeciphered until the turn of the century. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND The ancient Veddic civilization of the Indus Valley at Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa arose in western India contemporary with Sumeria around 3000 BC and flourished until tectonic changes caused the great river to change direction around 1500 BC. Indus seals were used differently to the text-and-seal administration of Mesopotamia and generally assumed the form of an amulet with a cryptic saying or religious proverb. The evidence of wear and abrasion shows their main use was visual identification and giving legitimacy to the owner rather than making numerous impressions. The language is considered a close relative of the mysterious pictographic script used by the Elamites and was finally deciphered by the aging German linguist Kurt Schildman in the late 1990’s. Who related it to the surviving pictographic scripts of East Asia and Korea and found it displayed a language style remarkably similar to Old Persian. Schildman’s students have now published translations of many of the seals revealing the Indus Valley’s true Veddic origins. SAFE& SECURE PAYPAL PARCELS ARE SHIPPED FLAT RATE AIRMAIL FROM AUSTRALIA.
