12" Fiji Suva The Lovers Wood Carving Wedding Tiki Mid Centry Modern Sculpture
You are bidding on a very nicely carved wedding tiki sculpture called The Lovers based on Fiji South Pacific Polynesian forklore. It depicts two modern faces intertwined. I am not sure of the age of the carving but would guess 1960s. It is stamped at the bottom but the stamp has faded. See photo 11. I can still make out"Suva" which is the capital of Fiji. Based on this it appears that the piece was in fact carved in Fiji. The piece measures 12 1/4" high x 3" wide x 2 1/4" deep. It is in excellent condition. I see no chips. I see only very minor wood cracks at the bottom, see photo 11. These do not extend into the finished area and are only visible on the unfinished bottom of the base. There very mild surface marks on the side towards the top of the higher face and on the same side towards the bottom. The carving displays ... morevery nicely. I searched the internet for additional information about The Lovers and found this story: Legend Of Old Fiji There is a legend"NANANU-I-RA" which goes something like this: Once upon a time there lived in the village of Nanukuloa(village of black sands) on Viti Levu(Queen of the sands) Adi fell in love with a handsome young chief from Bua. About twenty miles across the water. Bua was famous for its forests of beautiful sandalwood with a fragrant perfumed timber, and the people of Bua were great canoe sailors. A di's lover. Being a skilled sailor, sailed his fast canoe across the intervening sea to visit her, bearing many gifts carved from the exotic sandalwood of Bua. U nfortunately. However, the tribes of Bua and the tribes on Viti Levu were not friendly, and the suit of the young chieftain was rejected by Adi's father and the chief of Nanukuloa. Undaunted. However, the two lovers were determined to meet secretly and this is what they did. Off the coast near Adi's village is the island of Nananu-i-Ra, meaning"Dreamland in the West" and it was here the lovers arranged to meet.

VINTAGE MID-CENTURY MODERN SUPERIOR FURNITURE TO SMALLER SCALE TIN TOY DOLLHOUSE
DESCRIPTION: This is a group of 37 pieces(the bed is 2 separate pieces) of mixed furniture. Fixtures, and appliances that would have been used in a Superior lithographed tin dollhouse from the 1950’s to 1960’s. There are items for every room in the house, including: living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry, bedroom, bathroom, and nursery. There are even a couple of pieces for the patio. It is a bit smaller scale than the usual size that was used in Marx dollhouses, but there ARE some Marx houses that it would fit into. A lot of the pieces are marked with the Superior name in a flag logo. MATERIALS: Vinyl or soft plastic DIMENSIONS: The refrigerator and pink dresser with mirror are each about 3 inches tall. CONDITION: Overall in GOOD TO VERY GOOD. PLAYED-WITH CONDITION. I looked them over for damage, and saw that the TV/ radio/ phonograph ... moreprobably had a picture glued to the TV screen that is now missing. Also, the pink vanity with mirror may have been lying against one of the dark blue pieces of furniture for many years, and it caused some light blue-ish discoloration on the mirror. One of the aqua sofa sections has a pin hole in the front. One table lamp that is attached to the bed frame has a bad factory mold flaw or chip out of the lamp shade. Many pieces have some degree of warping(mostly insignificant) that you would expect to see in 50 year old vinyl. They all still sit straight, and are very displayable. Some pieces could use a clean-up. If you collect Marx. Renwal, or Superior dollhouse furniture, or have an empty dollhouse to fill up, this will be a great addition to your collection. FYI: Our pictures are taken under bright incandescent camera lighting or using a flash that sometimes fades out the colors or makes them appear brighter. This also helps to show all distinguishing features and possible flaws on the item. Most of our antiques and collectibles have much darker. Fine Modern Chinese Painting Ink on Rice Paper Unidentified
This is a really striking modern Chinese painting. It is black ink on ricepaper. Signed on the lower left. Comes from a fine collection that had some very expensive paintings so it may be a well known Chinese artist. I have not identified the artist. Very striking image. It is museam framed with a simple black frame. The image is approx 15" by 10" and the frame is 22" by 18" Please refer to the photos and ask questions. Offered we have(2) 1 pair of Chrome lights in the shape of a ball. Sphere or orb. I cant say for sure there age but I would think there Mid-century, 60's or maybe 70's. They have a style for many decor types, Mid-Modern, Retro or Industrial. There cords are a thick heavy white color and could use a cleaning, One has a plug on its end and the other looks like it was cut off. I'm not sure what type of application there for, I would think hanging but not sure how they would hang without chains or if they would have set into holders of some sort. There both very shiny and each has some little bubbling or pitting and a few scratches which is very common with older chrome items, If buffed or polished it may come right off. One is quite nice and the other has a little more signs of the areas mentioned above. Inside the finish starts ... moreoff with a black color and then transitions to white, one as shown in picture has rusty spots inside near its socket, which you may want to sand a little and paint. The sockets are porcelain. The one with plug is approx. 68" long to prongs on plug and the other that has no plug still has 70" of cord lenght. Vintage Mid Century Modern Sterling Enamel Hinged Bangle Bracelet
Presented is a lovely vintage mid century sterling enamel hinged bangle bracelet. This piece features a swirl of blue and green enamel. It closes with a push in clasp and comes with safety chain. It has the look of a Scandinavian sterling or perhaps a Siam sterling piece. But is only marked sterling 925 on the interior wall. It measures 2.5" in diameter from the hinge to opening. The interior circumference is 7" long. It is about.25" thick. This bracelet is in very good condition. All the enamel is intact. The sterling could use a little polishing. But there is no verdigris.
