The table was manufactured by the Lane Furniture Company and ... moredates(according to the serial number) to 1969. The table features French styling with a clover leaf top and raised, three section fleur de lis pattern. The table has curved, triangular stepped base. The three table legs are substantially thick and scrolled. The scrolled design is raised on the outer borders for interest. The lavishly designed table top is a very heavy composite, faux stone. It has a rough, stone texture with the fleur de lis patterns smoothed and slightly raised from the roughly textured sections. The table top border is also smooth and somewhat raised. The clover leaf design is repeated on the inner corners of the border. The pattern is in a brown, polished stone design with beautiful, subtle gold flecks. The table is painted in white, slightly distressed, with gold glazing on the legs and upper base borders. The gold glaze has been white washed in areas giving depth to the finish. This is a beautiful table. It is in very good condition with only minor signs of age/use. There are a few, very light surface scratches on the top which have been highlighted with the white washed finish. The white has been allowed to rest in these tiny areas which adds to the aged character of the slightly distressed finish. The table is very elegant and has a low profile. IT IS EXTREMELY HEAVY. It is structurally quite nice sturdy. The listing is for one table, but we do have a matching, identical, second table which is available if you would like a pair. The table is 17" tall and 22" wide at the widest measurement. The table weighs approximately 42 lbs. Preferred method of shipping is by Greyhound. They have caned tops that are in great condition that are covered by glass tops. They are a light colored and are made from solid oak. These are either French or English in origin. The largest table measures 18 inches tall and the top is 21 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches. The middle sized table measures 17 inches tall and the top is 17 3/4 inches by 12 1/2 inches. The smallest table measures 16 inches tall and the top is 14 inches by 10 1/2 inches. I see no breaks or repairs on this set. The pair are elegant and sleek with a low profile. They feature a two tier design with open backs. They are French styled. Art Deco era, and have elongated lower sections with curved fronts. There have decorative square, raised wood pieces on the skirt of the lower tier. These have been left in the original finish to contrast with the paint. The legs are lovely in Duncan Phyfe style. Fashioned in the Louis XVIth style. They have reeded legs, with the original castors, soft rounded reeded sides and rounded edges. The drawer fronts are embellished with lovely hand carved florals and rondels. Detailed florals figure on the metal knobs of both the drawers and doors. The drawers are very nicely dovetailed- a sign of quality craftmanship. Hand carved florals also figure on the four corners ... moreof the 2 doors. They retain the original bevelled marble tops which are a soft tannish/dessert sand( color with dramatic veining- would compliment many color palettes. These nightstands are in very good antique condition. The marble tops have no cracks or stains. There are a few tiny chips along the edges of both- barely discernible. There is some fading on the sides of the stands. The interiors of the cabinets retain the original white glass/enamel. There is cracking to the glass/enamel lining inside one cabinet and a line crack on the shelf of one cabinet(refer to photos) All that being said. These cabinets really are in wonderful condition, especially considering the age. They are very sturdy. The doors and drawers function easily. They were very well taken care of. Fashioned in the Louis XVIth style. They have reeded legs, with the original castors, soft rounded reeded sides and rounded edges. The drawer fronts are embellished with lovely hand carved florals and rondels. Detailed florals figure on the metal knobs of both the drawers and doors. The drawers are very nicely dovetailed- a sign of quality craftmanship. Hand carved florals also figure on the four corners ... moreof the 2 doors. They retain the original bevelled marble tops which are a soft tannish/dessert sand( color with dramatic veining- would compliment many color palettes. These nightstands are in very good antique condition. The marble tops have no cracks or stains. There are a few tiny chips along the edges of both- barely discernible. There is some fading on the sides of the stands. The interiors of the cabinets retain the original white glass/enamel. There is cracking to the glass/enamel lining inside one cabinet and a line crack on the shelf of one cabinet(refer to photos) All that being said. These cabinets really are in wonderful condition, especially considering the age. They are very sturdy. The doors and drawers function easily. They were very well taken care of. Very hard to find a true pair. Please note that these are book ended- each door opens on the opposite side. Made for French affluent society. They have an elegant air about them. The tables have tiered tops with turned wood supports. The tables have turned wood columns and Duncan Phyfe legs. The tops are in the original wood finish with no paint. The pair is quite lovely. They are in very good, antique condition. The tops have some evidence of use, i.e. water marks, and some scratches. These are not distracting and blend quite nicely with the character of the tables. One of the table tops shows the seam where the wood was connected. It is not cracked or loose, and the top is quite sturdy. The tops have a good coat of polyurethane. These end tables/ nightstands by Karges are exemplary! Beyond beautiful! Vintage originals c. 1960s. French Provençal blue with gold gilding. WOW! Sold as a pair only. Please view all photos because they are an integral part of the description. Some slight signs of wear that is normal and conducive to authentic antiquity(see photos) Mostly. These are just downright mind-blowing GORGEOUS! Does Mid Century, Hollywood Regency furniture really get any better than this? French/Shabby Marble Top 5pc Coffee, Lamp & End Tables Carved Cherubs Flower
All 5 tables for sale in one auction. Coffee table measures-26W x49"Lx17" H- Marble is in perfect shape and is 1"thick with a scallop edge. It has grey veining throughout. The base of the table has carvings with cherubs. The tables with the doors have great carvings around the sides and on the door fronts and provide storage. The marble is 1" thick and has grey veins through it. The 2 tables measure 20"Wx25"Lx241/2"H. The 2 tables with the cherubs carved on the legs and sides have two drawers that are carved with hand painted flowers on the fronts. The marble tops are 1"thick and have a very faint pink vein through them.But are mostly white. The tables all of some scuffs and wear due to age and need a good cleaning. No cracks or breaks in the marble or wood that I can determine. These are wonderful ... moreunique pieces and would make a great addition to a shabby chic.French,or Victorian style room. I am unable to ship due to the weight and size of the tables.But will be happy to assist with shipment in any way that I can.
