Antique Chinese bronze paperweight? scroll weight. Very rare Dervish Crutch(Zafar Takieh) and scabbard with Arabic inscription. Set with rubies, emeralds and turquoises, jade hilt, India, 18 th or 19 th century. Steel blade of flat diamond cross section with gold damascened decorations and arabic inscriptions on both sides. The softly curved jade hilt with silver finials in the form of a horse’s heads with ruby encrusted eyes. Silver cylindrical scabbard decorated with repoussé flowers and gems. Length: 49cm(19.25 in. OLD ANTIQUE 18/19TH CENTURY INDIAN KATAR DAGGER NO TULWAR SWORD
Being offered is a nice old antique Indian Katar dagger that would date to the 18/19th century. This knife measures 15" in total length. Features a very lovely handle with sculptural aspects. The crossbar with cut outs. Beaded features and faceted grip. There is an additional cut out on the top of the handle at the blade connection. The end of the handle bars are slightly bent. The blade has seen a lot of use. It has lost a little bit of width over the years from sharpening and tapers in strong at the point. The blade has a lot of patina and pitting. If polished and etched it would most probably be wootz Damascus steel. All in all, a good honest old Indian Katar dagger at a very low opening price. Sword. antique british indian regiment sabre sword french islamic persian asian dagger
I can tell you very little about this sword except that it is old and likely military BRIT INDIAN REGIMENT. FRENCH? MIDDLE EASTERN? INDIAN? PERSIAN? ISLAMIC? I would like to know so if you do then contact me and tell me please! it is quite likely made for indian regiment serving with colonial British forces but i am not certain of anything for sure regarding it, but it has been said that it is French and 18thc, but the blade baffles me as it is an eastern made blade as i see it, the hilt grip is made from hardwood which appears teak to me but also i am not certain of that, the blade is however scarf welded and the join is just past the 2nd mark furthest down towards the tip of the blade, i did etch and re polish after and it did show a clear join that i know to be a scarf weld, the front end of the blade is certainly laminated steel and shows ... morea damascus pattern when etched similar to what i have seen on many scarf welded Indian blades, this does not show in my pics because after etching i gave the sword a basic clean and basic polish with 800 grit paper, there are some interesting marks on the blade and it also has a typical yelmen tip with widening sharp top edge as seen on many Indian Indo Persian and Afghan swords, the knuckle guard is marked with a number 5 which makes me think this sword is British military Indian from the colonial wars when many Indian soldiers served with the Brits, there is active rust apparent but i am sure someone out there would like this old relic for restoration, rare or not i do not know but maybe someone could shed some light on this old sword and where it is from and what date. size is. 35-3/4 ins total length, blade 30-1/2 ins.
