BRITISH NO. 7 MK I LAND SERVICE BAYONET was designed in 1944 to answer the demand for a combination bayonet and fighting knife. A grand total of 176.000 were produced. The design was perfected by the Wilkinson Sword Co. The design was intended to be a universal one for use with the rifle or the Sten MKV sub machine gun. A new bayonet, the No. 5 MKI which had been designed for the No 5 Jungle Carbine had proved popular and formed the basis for the design work for the No7 bayonet. No 7(Swivel Pommel) Bayonet.The pommel is a bayonet socket and is mounted on a spindle on which it rotates. When the pommel is turned down it resembles a regular blade bayonet. when the pommel is turned up the socket can be fitted over the barrel with the blade hanging under the barrel. Old Boy Scout bowie sheath knife BSA vintage
Up for bid is an old sheath knife acquired with some Boy Scout items and medals from the Roanoke area. The knife is old and the sheath has not been cared for over its life. The leather is cracking in some areas and some of the grommets at the top and tip of the sheath are breaking away from the leater. The Boy Scout BSA emblem is still visible as shown in the photos. The knife is an older style Bowie knife. I did not see any markings on the blade when I looked it over. The blade does have some rust on it as shown in the photos. It is also dull. Original Piece Made in the 19th Century This striking forge sheath knife with deer antler hilt was made in the 19th century and is a very original piece with a peculiar design. Its curious and beautiful look is highly remarkable. And it combines an extended blade with a particularly decorative central part. All the metal is forged and has been carefully worked in order to get a really special design. The knife has a deer antler hilt whose end is raw and provides the piece with deep originality. This article is in great condition, keeping all its original parts and with the metal only showing slight signs of the trace of time. The blade is long and slim. With an only blade and blunt point. It has no decoration whatsoever and it is long and stylish in design. But the most attention-grabbing ... morepart of this weapon is undoubtedly the part that joins the blade and the hilt, where this connects to the iron. In this place we find a curious decorative design, with the iron dividing itself into four slim cylinders with cord-inspired engraved decoration. This iron cords separate to create a bulky form. Each cord has three iron rings inserted and loose that slide through them making up an original detail. The iron cords are attached to de antler grip by means of a solid metal ring that connects both parts strongly. The hilt is also a remarkable piece. With a very particular design that has nothing to do with usual cannons. It is made of deer antler, with the antler’s base being the end of the hilt. The part that connects with the iron was originally the antler’s point. This part is bone white but the color darkens gradually until it becomes light brown in the rough end. But what is important to note is that the skill of the Nigerian bronze and brass casters of today who cast this head continue a tradition nearly 500 years old at Benin and have not lost their skill in producing interesting works of art. Benin art is royal art. Made to glorify the great king or Oba, who is considered to have divine ancestry. The brass casters guild historically worked primarily for the monarchy, with smaller pieces being available to chiefs. It has been in existence since the fifteenth or sixteenth century. Here are three(3) pieces for the Community Oneida patt ern Sheraton. This pattern is form 1910. The first piece is a n Olive Fork. It measures about 6 1/2 inches long. The fork is in very goo d condition. I do not see any plate loss. The second pie ce is a Solid Handle Knife. It meas ures about 9 inches long. There is wear on the very tip of the handle( see p icture 3) I think the blade is silverplate. There is wear along the edges on the b lade. The last piece is a teaspoon. US Pre WW II Deep Sea Diver's Knife/Shark Billy
This was my Father's knife. He was a sub-mariner in the US Navy prior to World War II. There are no markings as to brand or manufacturer. It is a substantial and solid tool that is in good shape. There are no nicks on the blade and no cracks in the handle. The threaded brass scabbard. Which served as a shark billy, has a few nicks and a very nice patina. The blade is sharp on one side and serrated on the other. Please see the photos. Overall length is 13 1/2" Blade length is 6 3/4" It weighs 2 pounds. 14 ounces This is a marvelous piece of marine history that will make a great addition to any collection.
