For your consideration we have this beautiful solid brass water font. This is a genuine old piece that does show it's age. I have not attempted to clean this piece in any way but I think it would clean up nicely if one chooses to do so. There is a hairline crack through the neck and a chunk out of the top side of the angels head(as seen in pictures 8. 9, 10) The piece measures about 5 3/8" inches tall and 3" inches accross the widest part. Antique Jesus Church Jennings Brothers Holy Water Font Wall Christian Religious
Up for your consideration is this absolutely stunning 1894 Jennings Brothers holy water font. This is a nice high quality item which features a beautiful statue of Jesus. And would have been used in a church to hold holy water. As you can see, there is a water line in the bowl which shows that this font was put to use for many years. It has a wonderful patinated brass finish, but I'm not sure what its made of. This font is really unique because not only would it store water in the bowl, but it also has a built in retainment"tank" that would have been filled from the back. As the water in the bowl ran low, it would automatically refill its self from the tank in the back. In addition to being signed on the back, its also dated 1894. VERY OLD PAINTED MAJOLICA HOLY WATER FONT I have a collection of very old. Mostly wooden religious relics to offer this week and apologize in advance for having almost no knowledge about them. They are all very old, no doubt several hundred years, and they look Spanish, though could be from many regions. This auction is for a worn. Antique majolica holy water font with an angel at the top, two at the bottom and an angel with wings and a sash in the center. This piece appears quite old and does have areas of paint chipping and loss along with other losses. There appears to be one flower missing next to a column on the right side. One of the angels has paint loss to the forehead. The tip of the flat plaque behind the font has a missing area that can't be seen unless you look from the underneath side. The font is unglazed on the back side ... moreand the ceramic shows quite a lot of age. It measures 16" in length and is about 8" wide. The painting is somewhat primitive on this piece, with bright colors. This antique bronze Holy water bucket or situlae measures 11" high with handle extended with a 3 1/2" diameter base(it weighs almost 7 pounds; use scroll bar to see all 12 close-up photos) These buckets were used during purification ceremonies for sprinkling Holy water around the altar and congregation. All hand sculpted. It depicts the apostles writing the scriptures along with the Virgin Mary holding Jesus. The Latin inscription along top edge states" JVSTVS ET PALMA FLOREBIT 1551" which translates to"just like the palm tree. He shall flourish" These situlae became popular again during the 18th century revival period where Medieval religious items were again brought out to light. This is an extremely rare antique 18th century handmade silver over bronze portable pocket holy water font. it is completely hand hammered and formed from thick bronze and is completely hand engraved with an abundance of very interesting detailing. it has a great patina from age and done in a nice circular format. the box has a sterling overlay and black enamel. it has two holes in the top which fit two fingers perfectly. the top and bottom are riveted together and the top spins opening one or both holes. inside is a piece of cotton that is exposed when opened. it measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter and in great antique shape. Antique Vintage Angel with shell, religious holy water font finger dipper
Antique Angel holding a shell for filling with holy water. Very beautiful and tender. No markings as to who made it. Approx 5 inches tall x 2 1/2 inches wide. Beautiful details. She has golden hair and holds a pale blue shell. You fill that with holy water. Theres 2 small holes behind the head where they used to tie a string to mount on wall. Theres also a round hole if you want to hang it on a nail. Part of my uncle's(who married my Dads sister) sisters estate. It was given to me. Now sadly. I must part with it as I am retiring soon. Have to downsize all the things we have collected over the past 60+ years. Cant take everything with us. Hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it. large antique hand painted bisque chalkware holy water font. Candle holder, wood crucifix, statue. It depicts on the left St. Rita of Cascia and on the righ St. Therese of the Child Jesus(St. Therese of Lisieux) It is marked on the back by maker and dated 1923. It is a very old piece and has a beautiful patina from age. it depicts both figures with crucifix's in hands dressed in complete head to toe robes. there is a brick wall in-between the two figures which holds the holy water on the bottom and the candle holder on the top. there is a little rectangular slot in the back that holds the wood crucifix measuring 14 inches tall by 11 inches wide by 4 3/4 inches back to front and extremely heavy it is overall in nice antique shape please view all photos. All angles are taken there is some paint loss in some areas
