After a lot of online investigating it appears that this piece came from a very small French pottery early mid century 30s to 40s. Although I couldn’t find out what the RS stands for. Any info on the RS Pottery would be most welcomed. As with any clay fired piece it has some manufacturing defects which I pictured. Otherwise, no chips or cracks. Thank you for your interest!

This wonderful piece features a highly detailed Rococo-Style Crucifix, with side candle holders and a Holy Water Shell Font in front. It has a Silver color finish. Most of these pieces were entirely Cast Iron and painted Gold or Silver. But there were a few made partly from Pewter. The look nearly identical. However, in the Pewter Pieces, it’s easy to bend and shape the upper portion of the piece(Candle Holder Arms and Crucifix) with your bare hands. This is NOT the case with the cast iron versions. The Cast Iron pieces sell for $80- $140 while the Pewter pieces get $120-$200. This piece was part of a Sick Call Outfit from the 1890’s. And is Perfect for the home altar, or to carry with you on Sick Calls. The letters“ INRI” are imprinted at the top of the crucifix. The letters“ INRI” are initials for the Latin title that Pontius Pilate had written over the head of Christ on the cross(John 19:19) Latin was the official language of the Roman Empire. The Latin" Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm" translates in English to: Jesus of Nazareth. The King of the Jews. This amazing piece measures( 11) inches tall. Is( 7½) inches wide and( 3) inches deep. It accepts taper sized( 1 inch diameter) candles. The base of the holder has an unusual decorative detail. A different depiction on each of the four sides. One side has the Sacred Heart. Antique 1890s Pewter Sick Call Crucifix Candleholder& Holy Water Font This sale is for a Beautiful. Antique and Rather Heavy, Pewter Crucifix Candle Holder& Holy Water Font, from the 1890’s. This wonderful piece features a highly detailed Rococo-Style Crucifix, with side candle holders and a Holy Water Shell Font in front. It has a Silver color finish. Most of these pieces were entirely Cast Iron and painted Gold or Silver. But there were a few made partly from Pewter. The look nearly identical. However, in the Pewter Pieces, it’s easy to bend and shape the upper portion of the piece(Candle Holder Arms and Crucifix) with your bare hands. This is NOT the case with the cast iron versions. The Cast Iron pieces sell for $80- $140 while the Pewter pieces get $120-$200. This piece was part of a Sick Call Outfit from the 1890’s. Residents would keep these in their homes for the Priest to use when he made a house call to visit and pray over the Ill. Bishop Paul Leonard Hagarty was a beloved friend of my mother Bertha. The founder of Church-Woman Antiques. He was also the first Bishop of Nassau. And served previously as Vicar Apostolic of the Bahamas Islands. His estate items are on consignment for auction thanks to a friend of St. John's Abbey, where he spent his final years. Bidders who are familiar with shipboard items from this period will recognize that on the back there is a missing eye-hook that would have secured this piece when used on board ships. This piece is so beautiful and finely detailed. 5 inches long. There is water residue(hard water stains) inside the font but other than that is in mint condition. This may clean up with some aggressive cleaning but will leave that to new owner. Back side of left foot behind toes is what looks like a place where clay slipped away. Area is smooth. I have seen this very same font listed on eBay with the same issue so know it came from the factory this way. She is just lovely. Can be hung with a wire through holes ... morein back of head or with a nail via opening in back. Also what appears as yellowing on the front of the legs is not there.this is only shadowing from my camera and indoor lighting. However. Purity, and innocence) embossed on flat backplate. Background shades from brown to almost white and shows rays radiating from sun. This small size was made for use in the home. Sometimes pieces like this were given as Confirmation gifts or keepsakes. Many still use the decorative fonts in their homes today. The back is marked: Germany 17366; I would estimate the piece was made circa 1900(late 19th century to early 20th century) Piece measures almost 3" across(side to side) It is about 3 1/2" from top to bottom. Condition: It is without chips. Cracks, nicks or dings. There is a some wear on brown coloring, mostly on side edges. Inside the well shows discoloration ... moreand mineral deposits from holding water over time. One may also notice a yellowish tint across the front of well. Up for sale is a fantastic antique holy water font with a great. Gothic look to it. Measuring 5.75" tall. The font features Madonna& Child standing within a go thic cathedral with ar chitectural elements. It has some pencil writing on the bottom which ap pears to be German. I believe the piece itself is either Ger man or Staffordshire. There are two production flaws. First. There are some pin head sized hol es on the front raised figures caused by glaze pops. Second. There is a nick on the b ack at the bottom. But this is glazed over indicating that it left the factory that way. Both can be seen in the photos. These two production flaws do not de tract from the piece in my opinion. I personally think that glaze pops look amazing and really fit the piece well. This sort of font would have been very inexpensive originally and sold ... moreto poor or middle class homes for use as opposed to fancier. Much more e xpensive fonts made by well known firms. Offering for your consideration an early 20th century holy water font which is from the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec. Canada. This font is made of metal. It has a clear plastic covering on the background section. The figure of St. Anne and Our Lady as a little girl together with the basilica and the radiant halo are made of metal. The place to hold the water is made of ribbed glass. There is an attached name plate beneath St. Anne. I cannot make out the writing on it. It might have been an inscription bearing the name of St. Anne de Beaupre. Just above the holy water bowl is a French beaded flower. It is in pale blue and matches the color of St. Anne's mantle. A wonderful and very old art deco style holy water font of stamped metal with glass bowl. Measures 4 1/4" T x 2 1/8" W x 1 1/8" D. Metal is stamped with an impression of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Heaven and Earth with the Infant Jesus Prince of Peace over a cathedral window. Beautifully detailed glass bowl is marked in raised lettering on the bottom edge. Czechoslovakia" Nice patina on metal. Some light tarnish/discoloration. Here we have an old and unique little lot of religious items. The Mother Mary statue measures 5-3/8 inches tall. I think this is made of pewter but cannot be sure. It is hollow. The base is made of wood. It shows age. Surface wear and patina. Made in Italy. I do not know the age of the rosary but it is definitely vintage and a good chance it is antique. Still solid. The font measures 6-7/8 inches tall and 4-1/4 inches wide. It appears to be made of brass. It shows age. Surface wear and patina. The holy water vessel came detached. It will need to be soldered or glued on with metal glue. Should be an easy fix. Antique 1800's Italian Marble Holy Water Font Brass
This is definitely an antique. And I am guessing it is very old. I can't confirm any of this, but the person I got it from said it was an"1800's Italian Marble Holy Water Font" She obtained it from the estate sale of a very prominent upstate New York antique dealer and collector. The marble is affixed to what I think is brass(but I'm not sure. As I'm not an expert) It sure does look like brass to me. It is approximately 4.75 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide. The glass is intact, not cracked, and tightly affixed. The only marking I can see is on the back and very small. It looks like"Fran" stamped into the brass and the"n" is only about half visible. Stranger yet. The stamp reads backwards! So, perhaps this was made in France. You decide! The two corners on the bottom have a very slight bend to ... morethem(see last photo) But in my opinion it doesn't affect the appearance at all. The bends are so uniform, perhaps it was done intentionally. Please carefully view all photos and ask any questions you might have. This is an antique and there are signs of it's being an antique. Up for your consideration is this absolutely stunning 1894 Jennings Brothers holy water font. This is a nice high quality item which features a beautiful statue of Jesus. And would have been used in a church to hold holy water. As you can see, there is a water line in the bowl which shows that this font was put to use for many years. It has a wonderful patinated brass finish, but I'm not sure what its made of. This font is really unique because not only would it store water in the bowl, but it also has a built in retainment"tank" that would have been filled from the back. As the water in the bowl ran low, it would automatically refill its self from the tank in the back. In addition to being signed on the back, its also dated 1894. I have tried to research it and cannot find anything quite like it. Germany is stamped on the back and I can make out an indentation of an"H" and perhaps the#186 or 188? Approximately 3 1/2" wide and 4" high and 1 3/4" deep. There is a very fine line crack on one side ~no separation and a fair amount of crazing ~ and as you can see her little nose has been bumped.
