The cross is marked BK and I have not found that hallmark anywhere so I assume someone private made it. It's very pretty with it's gold detailing and pretty lilies on the front. The candle sticks although made by Gibson match this perfectly. Gibson has been around a long time and there is no way to know how long they have been making this piece. These would make a great addition to your home altar or shrine. I personally believe these are vintage pieces. Pair / Set of two antique brass Holy Water fonts Catholic Mass Altar
This auction is for a set of two small. Used, antique wall-mount Holy Water fonts from a Catholic Church. This set is probably best for a chapel or small Church. The back-plates are solid brass and quite heavy. The back-plates measure 8"H x 2.5"W x 1/4" thick and the cup-rings are 3 3/16" diameter and about 3" tall. The back-plates and rings were also in pretty tarnished condition, so we stripped the lacquer, polished the metal, re-sprayed with 4 heavy coats of lacquer. This was not done by a professional, so it is not perfect, but it looks pretty good. The other pieces of this set(plastic liner-cups and base metal cups) also needed work. The inner plastic cups are perfectly fitted for the base aluminum cups. The base aluminum was somewhat rough and oxidized. Because it looks like they may have put the holy water ... moredirectly in them for a while because the plastic cups were so corroded with hard water deposits. The plastic liner-cups cleaned up nicely with some simple vinegar. With the metal base-cups, we painted over the base aluminum metal to protect it and make them look a little better(the oxidized aluminum looked pretty dirty and bad with the brass) We used a hammered-copper Rust-Oleum paint. After all of this cleaning and re-finishing. This set didn't work well in our setting when mounted, so we never even used them. We ended up changing and using a different(larger) set for our church anyway(because the cups on this set are kind of small- most church fonts have more of a 5" diameter cup) Certainly not"new" or"original" Or perfectly re-finished, but a pretty good set. We just want to get something out of them now, because we won't be using them. New fonts are often $300 each($600/pair) so we'll start bidding on these at $250 with free shipping.

It's mostly Wood construction with Clear Glass Mirrors on the 2 side panels and beautiful old Cobalt Mirrors in the Center area that forms a Cross upon which Christ hangs. The decorations and writing on the Mirrors are old Silkscreen printing. And says"INRI" as you'd expect at the top, with a radiant sunburst pattern emanating from behinds the Saviour's head. On the center horizontal front piece is a Hole in which the original Votive Candle resides. It's made of white glass and slips into the hole to fit snugly. I have not burned the original votive candle that came with this Altar and in fact used an entirely different. Contemporary glass candle holder and"tea" candles. At first I was wary of warming the wood up too much while burning the candle but I found out that's not really a concern because the wood stays cool. I have never hung this Altar on the wall. Because the back of the center vertical has been glued and repaired and covered with cardboard. It has always been on the bureau as you see in the Pics. Please be sure to do the same until you are sure the weight of the Altar can be hung safely from the Hanger(visible in the Pics) Another great thing about this Altar is that there's a hidden compartment in the back where a small phial of Holy Water can be kept

Up for auction are stamped 1909 Homan's Alter Sick Call Outfits. The 3 1/2 x 5 3/4 Last Supper relief plaque is mounted on a dovetailed mission oak box and stamped inside is"Altar Sick Call Outfit made by the Homan Mfg Co Cincinnati Ohio Pat'd Jan 11. 1910" Booklet is 1909 and front page has torn off but remainder is in amazingly good condition. The wood box is 4 3/4" high x 5" deep x 6 1/2" wide with a 3/4" beveled attached wood base, pull out cardboard type drawer(cloth tab worn off on 1 drawer) and the top metal part with heart is 5 1/2" high. Inside 1 drawer is the original communion cloth, silver plate for cotton and salt marked on bottom quadruple and inscribed on top IHS with grape and wheat design, silver handle w/cross holy water sprinkler(missing bristles) and, I don't believe this ... morecame with the outfit but there is a small silver case w/1" Joseph w/baby Jesus inside(bottom of it is marked Germany) which was held by the recipient. According to the book the removable altar lights, crucifix, holy water glass bottle and 2 wax candles are missing from each one. These items typically went missing. The bowl on top of one has broken off but is included(looks like it at one time had been soldered) and there is wear to bottom of wood boxes. Vintage German Catholic Holy Water Font Altar Icon Valentine Cherub Angel Plaque
Hello everyone. I'm listing in this auction a beautiful example of a vintage holy water font, the font is German and it has a number mark as well. The font is a rare primitive design find. It's a white porcelain with hand painting and gilt details, there's a cross, the cherub and the small Valentine heart has an arrow going through it. It measures about 4 3/4" tall and the condition is wonderful considering the age, it has no chips, no cracks and no repairs. Expect the signs of wear for something that's true vintage or antique. I haven't cleaned it, but I will tidy it up before shipping, and it will be a great addition to any collection or to use and display. Feel free to ask me any questions. For sale a Holy Water Font made of thick glass with gold gilt'Holy Water Font' lettering that's raised across the front. It's 3 3/8" tall at the back x 2 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep. The letter'n' in Font looks backwards to me. Otherwise. The piece is in great, gently used condition with hard water deposits to the interior water compartment and a couple of lines are visible inside the glass at the back panel due to manufacture.
