Offered is a wonderful old secretary top or wall mount cabinet from an estate. Stripped. Ready to be sanded and refinished. Held together with great old hand wrought square nails. Circa late 1800s. Wood looks to be chestnut or walnut. Part of backer missing, 1 upright dividier has some damage, initials punched into inside of drop front, 1 hole in backer on top shelf. Top a bit loose, some moisture stains to be sanded out, some wood splitting on top trim lots of wear and tear, or as I prefer, character. 1800's Walnut Cylindrical Roll Top Secretary Desk With Bookcase
This is a very unique. Historic, piece possibly involved in 1906 California earthquake. It is a tall, dark walnut cylinder or barrel roll top glider desk with burled walnut. Dating from 1800-1890- time period uncertain. The bookcase is a separate piece for moving around. There are three(3) shelves that adjust on wooden supports. The bookcase measures 43 5/8 inches tall, 31 inches side to side and 12 inches front to back. The bird's eye roll top desk measures about 30 inches high(will need to remeasure to be certain) 30 inches side to side. The writing area measures 29 1/2 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches from front to cubbies, 6 inches of well worn felt(front to back) that is 23 3/4 inches across. Inside the roll top are 4 cubbies(5 inches by 5 1/2 inches) and one larger cubbie measuring 8 1/2 inches height, and 9 1/2 inches from side to ... moreside. Key holes, but keys are not available. The hardware includes square nails. More pictures available to show the detail clearer) There are three drawers with large brass and ebony wood knobs. The top drawers has two dividers. It is 4 inches top to bottom. 14 1/2 inches front to back. The dividers measure 7 1/2 inches, a larger one in the middle- 13 1/2 inches and another 7 1/2 inches. The other two drawers are both 8 1/2 inches top to bottom. It has wheels and it is in overall good condition but does show some signs of age. HISTORY There is a lot of mystery surrounding this piece and there is still research being conducted. Some clues are a Bank of America envelope with a.03$ stamp on it. A San Diego State College Envelope, postcards from Pacific Novelty Company and a collection of black and white photos with people and landscapes of China town, the San Francisco Bay area, and other picturesque scenery along the Pacific coast. The piece definitely has an unusual energy and most likely was involved in a very serious earthquake because of psychic visions.

Antique Walnut Slant Front Drop Lid Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top
There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

Two small interior desk drawers have small round nails, some interior scratches, hinges have been moved on the drop front desk lid, some missing burl veneer and splits on bottom corners of drop front lid, some missing burl veneer on bottom right, a small piece of wood missing on bottom left. The Victorian secretary is all walnut with burl walnut highlights. Incised design on drop front lid, original wavy glass, chamfered panels on interior of bottom doors, original chamfered panels for secretary back. Vintage Kling Furniture Secretary/Desk. 77" tall x 17" deep x 33" wide. In beautiful condition. Has normal signs of age; a few nicks and scratches and a very tiny chip in veneer at corner of the top drawer. Drawer pulls have been replaced. The outline of the original pulls can been seen in the finish. This is a collectible. Original brass pulls can be gotten to increase the collectible value. As is, insurance replacement appraisal is $1,200. Made in 1930-32 by Frewsburg Furniture Co in NY. Frewsburg was a wholly owned subsidiary of Kling and one of several furniture companies making furniture for Kling. This piece was one of the first made for Kling and still has the Frewsburg Furniture Company shipping label on back which further verifies the date the piece was made. Incredible find.beautiful old Plantation Desk top. In lovely condition. Not abused, from a non-smoking home. Usually the only the bottom part of the plantation desks survive. But this complete top is in lovely, age-appropriate condition. I believe the wood is walnut with pine as a secondary wood. There is a top section that lifts that goes the entire away across with the molding. Revealing pigeon holes/cubbies. On either side of the piece are large doors.the left side has a grid of cubbies. The right side has horizontal dividers, with pretty ogee divider detail for vertical file storage. Four drawers with horizontal beaded details.they no longer have their pulls but move freely. An age-appropriate pull would be wood. So it should be easy to replace. This is a classic Eastlake Secretary circa around 1880. That has a curly walnut burl on the roll top, which is really beautiful. The upper bookcase has the origianl wavy glass in the doors and adjustable shelve with wooden slats and a key lock on the doors with the key. Nice Antique Walnut Victorian Cylinder Roll Secretary This is a nice walnut antique Victorian cylinder roll secretary.This nice secretary is being sold in as purchased out of an estate condition It is an antique so.Therefore, it is not flawless. It is in good condition for the age. The secretary needs a little TLC. In the picture it looks like there is a gap between the roll and the desk side but there is not I just did not have the cylinder part of the desk down on the peg where it rests on the desk. There is some minor wood working that needs to be done. A few of the ears need to be fixed and the desk needs to have a writing surface made. This is a Victorian burl walnut butler’s secretary desk. Purchased from a local estate, this gorgeous solid black ... morewalnut butler’s bookcase desk is in original condition. All we did was polish it up, and some minor wear shows here and there in the finish, but it adds charm and character. We did replace the felt on the desk because it was in rough condition. This is called a butler’s desk because back in the old days, the butler was an important person in the household. He took care of the house, paid bills, and did all the food shopping. He would get the groceries, and he would make the list on this desk. It was also used as a dish cupboard in the dining room. This one has lots of burl on it, lots of rosettes, burl trim all over, and racetrack moldings on the doors, which retain their original brass hardware. The beautiful solid black walnut case has a carved crest on top, which is normally missing on these pieces. There is truly burl all over this piece: on the top, the face of the bookcase/china closet, rosettes and buttons. The handles and burl walnut on the drop down lid are unbelievable. Antique Traveler's Folding Walnut Writing Desk/ Box/ Secretary* All Original This is a late 19th century portable. Or traveling, writing desk. It is 13 3/4" wide, 8 3/4" deep when closed, and 4" high closed. It is made of nicely figured walnut with brass reinforcements. Everything is completely original. The exterior finish has very fine crazing which is not obvious- you must view it at an acute angle in the light- and VERY few of the minor marks these things usually pick up over a century. There is no real damage or dings. I do not have the key. The hinges are completely solid. The interior wood finish is in nearly the same condition but has about a half dozen wear spots. The velvet pad is original. It is split across the boxe's hinge but I believe it may have been made that way- there in no fraying- and the tab to ... morelift the bottom section is missing. The only real problem is that the velvet, which acts as the hinge for the two compartment lids, is loose from the frame of the box's lid as seen in the fourth pic; this is easily repaired. The compartments are clean and include the original dust. There are two ink bottles- one with its original pewter collar and lid and the other is missing the pewter pieces. The lid for the pen/pencil compartment has ink spilled on it(seen in the pics) but this should clean off if you know how to do that. The lower writing desk with 2 drawers and letter trays on either side of the drawers and the top piece which would be a bookcase or for storing knick-a-knacks. There is a wonderful lock on the desk lid, the interior drawers and the bureau drawers in the lower section. The lower desk or escritoire section has three drawers with lovely dovetailing joinery and wonderful wooden drawer pulls. On the upper section of the desk on one of the internal shelves, it is signed with“Mr. Morrow; Squire, Ohio Oh and a drawing of a dog” Please view all photographs as we strive to depict each item to its fullest and most honest with photographs and written descriptions. This piece may show minor age appropriate signs of wear including ... morewood imperfections and separations, but as shown it is in overall very good cosmetic and structural condition for its age– Ca. 1790-1820. Antique Claw Feet Drop Front Secretary Desk. Solid Walnut SKANDIA Rockford IL. Markings indicate dates to approx. 1920. A nice slant front drops down to reveal. Secret pockets- Pigeon holes- Drawers. Original Hardware- Solid Walnut Wood. No cracks noted. Normal wear. What is left of the labels are shown in photos. This unit takes up very little floor space. But has a lot of storage. Purchased new in the early 2000s, this piece is still manufactured today by Baker Furniture and retails for $45,845. I imagine a few people pay this retail price, but as an interior designer, the best sale price I can obtain on a new piece directly from Baker is still just over $25,000. Offered here as a"buy-it-now" at $15,000, this represents an amazing bargain, especially considering the piece is crafted in America and requires incredible hours of painstaking labor to accomplish the extensive interior fittings(pigeonholes, drawers, secret compartments, inlaid stringing) Notice pictures five and six demonstrate multiple document holders and secret hidden compartments. As a used piece. This secretary does have minor nicks and ... moredings, most noticeably around the bracket feet from occasional bumps with the vacuum cleaner over the years. The piece has minor intended distressing to the finish from it's original production by Baker, so any touch ups and/or waxing one might want to do would only add to the effect. It is in fantastic condition. Never abused. Well-cared for. In complete working order. It is missing one tiny brass knob that affixes to one of the two candle slides. As this is still a current piece in Baker's production, I am sure you could easily obtain a replacement directly from Baker.
